This isn't 100% but sometimes you lose items when you savescum. Not all the files are update at the same time so when you pick up/drop some items and you zoom in/out and somehow the game 'accidentally crushed' those item will duplicated/vanished.

See if you can use the methods mentioned above to find your items.

Herblore is trained by trying to identify plants that aren't 100% identified, so keep trying and the skill will eventually increase (it's hard to get it to 100%, because you tend to run out of plants to train on... but when you know everything about every plant there's no practical reason to increase the skill). There's some kind of timeout for identification attempts, but attempts can be made many times per day, although the maximum number of actual increases per day is 3 as for all skills.

I've never seen any seeds spoil (nor have I seen turnips spoil, even after sitting for years as bait in traps).

Seeds do have values but villager will not accept them as payment saying 'Those aren't needed'.

there is no fixed load, like your character your bull/cow/ram/sheep/reindeer/dog/pig/sow will have their max carry weight based on their weight.

The best way to train some skills is modding the diy_ files..

I like to create some little personal mods like this(don't know if its worth posting in mods):

.Spear combat training. "Spruce twig" [effort:3]  [phys:hands,one-armed,stance]  *SPEAR*    /150/ |2|
{[NEARBY_TILE:birch]}               +'A birch nearby'
{Staff} #0.2#
[NAME:Broken twigs]

This way you train skills like you train carpentry and others.
Use *SKILL* and |2| so you get best results,
and then put some time and effort like [effort:3]  [phys:hands,one-armed,stance] and /150/ so it looks like a training and not an exploit.


Herblore - Keep unknown plants:  This works wonders, especially when you are at a strange area far from your culture  ;)

You can also train herblore with known plants, again skill check cool down time is one hour, the only difference between known and unknown plants is just the examine time.

can you post your recipe and the item you used?

my guess is that you used some non food ingredient and the name tag so when the game tried to name the item it got tuntematon which is very common for misc items.

A whole winter with just 10 bows 10 paddles + some arrows is definitely not intense. You usually should get 1-2 points for that amount in that level or if you are very lucky maybe 3(skill checks are less harsh at these level).

It looks like diy_glossary.txt is missing or the game somehow cannot access that file...

Check diy_glossary.txt and your AV.

How about other items? Building, Clothes and Weapons. Both Building and Clothes don't use diy_glossary.txt  and should always be there. Weapons to check if it is just Lumbers or the problem of the entire file.

I think I can just simplify it into:
1. trying to buy things worth more than the reward
2. returning items so the reward should fully cover the cost of items
3. the trade didn't end as the player didn't make any offer to the items

This was first noticed when I drop one elk(butchered) in village and left for the second. When I came back next day I cannot found the fat of first elk during tanning.
This isn't a great deal but the thing really caught my attention is that when I collect the dried/smoked meat I when for 'donate' 20% as using fee and found the calculation isn't right, some meats are missing.

At first I thought it could be wildlife but it happened so often and I went for some testing. Turns out if you left food (meat/fat, not sure about fish/veg/bread/etc) in the village, the inventory will consider them as the property of the village and consume 1 from each stack.
I tested it with leaving 5*5 smoked cut in a house, 5*5 outside that house, 10*2 in another house and 10*2 outside that house. I returned in an month and a half and each stack have a missing cut(4*10+9*4).
The other effect is that the inv system will treat those tiles as food storage and spawn new foods on those tiles.

Not sure if dropping weapons/clothes/furs will trigger similar effects.

Just curious, if the player is female will the fox trap spell and forest maid spell work?

I can test them myself but getting the quests isn't guaranteed and if anyone got a female character with the spells I would love to hear the results.
