Did you cut any young trees to make your traps?

I've never had issues other than within sight of villages, and I mean sight like right outside of villages where you can see their foot prints. It's interesting that the villagers might be adding to the fires. I wonder what's going on in their villager mind

Magical Finnish fire spirits are my first guest but it may be villagers. It most often happens when I make a twig fire spam alt+c to roast all my meat and then go to sleep while it finishes cooking (like an iron age Crock-Pot) and when I wake up the fire is still there and meat is burnt

General Discussion / Re: Exploit - overloaded traders
« on: September 20, 2019, 08:37:42 PM »
My opinion without regards to functionality is that they should be willing to trade all their available goods as that is why they brought them to our lands; as opposed to villagers who may want to reserve their resources for later. Traders life goal is get rid of arms armor and jewelry and bring home furs

I often start small branch and twig fires to roast meat without fear of burning the meat. We'll some times if I start them just outside a village they will burn like I threw a tree trunk on them.

New char minimized cooking to place skill points elsewhere. So ya terrible cook

You mentioned helping to row a boat? Suggestion, can they row the boat so I can shot aquatic life, also fatigue reduction on rowing. Dreams of standing on the prow of a punt hunting for the big white seal that gave me a grievous bleeding bite to my leg (unable to stand)

Villagers will not except poor quality roasted meat. However once it went stale and thus bland they would except it.

I think that some roasted meat should be accepted, preserved meat preferred, and raw non stale meat accepted in large quantities, with the assumption that a village would be able to smoke dry salt or cook it as they saw fit.

Suggestions / Re: More realistic terrain generation?

Not that it's defined but I always assumed rivers flowed toward the sea. So southward in the kaumo and reemi areas and to North in the lands of the animal tribes.

Suggestions / More Tracking info
« on: August 17, 2019, 08:47:03 PM »
So as I write this I'm hunting reindeer I think to my self where is the one I crippled? And it hits me, an tracker at a certain level should be able to see if his prey is crippled by it's gait and I should also be able to determine relative size small, big, from tracks these small changes would make it easier follow specific animal in a herd.

I like to save fat and spoiled fat from squirrels and birds as predators don't seem to have a preference on amount ie a 1.0 cut of meat or .1 of fat work equally well as bait. So I can carry lots of fat for the same weight as one meat cut. Spoiled fat does not seem to make a huge difference to me, cooked will NOT work. I also save partially used turnips for bait, for the same reason, weight reduction. I also have had no luck with berries, I have had luck placing snares on Berry bushes that are ripe as birds do "pick" those.

Will there be any loss off length due to the knot or is it so small as to be negligible, is there reduction in quality due to multiple knots, can we choose cord length when crafting or will it be a set length that we will then add to or shorten?

Off-topic / Finnish bear fight

https://youtu.be/qmMBN8bpyzE sorry if this does not hyperlink I'm not very good with computers. Saw this video and it made me wonder. I have witnessed predator prey interactions, but what about territory disputes or fighting over mates? I would enjoy seeing two bull elk duking it out during mating season

Very true PALU, in my head I see craftsmen working like modified companions. Tell me about your skill? Oh I am an expert Cobbler or a skilled boat builder. I would like you to make me some boots or can you repair my boots
