Wielding a ski stick is required to use skis. The northern spear, equipped as either primary or secondary weapon, can be used in place of a ski stick. There does not appear to be any benefit to wielding two ski sticks simultaneously.
Ski sticks can be crafted using an axe, a slender tree trunk and one pound of leather.
Ski sticks also function as a sesta when traversing shallow water.
