Currently there are no sewing needles to be found in the UnReal World, but as we're currently working with the improved and pausable clothmaking you'll be able find them in the upcoming patch.
Sewing needles are naturally needed in clothmaking and the player character will be able to craft ones from bone by themselves, or order iron sewing needles from the village blacksmiths. That's what our test character Liisi is about to do in the following screenshot.

Coming up with all the planned improvements regarding clothmaking will be accomplished step by step within a course of several versions.  We're trying pick up the pace with releasing the next version in order to also overcome some nasty bugs found in the current version. Aiming for an October release.
We won't yet see a designated clothmaking skill or pausable clothmaking in the next version, but smaller improvements and groundwork here and there to preceed the bigger changes.
One new thing to expect is a nested menu for making clothes.  Upon selecting [C]lothes option from [M]ake you will now enter a sub-menu with three categories; fur clothes, leather clothes and miscellanous clothes. This menu will get updated with woollen and textile clothing somewhere in the future then.

Clothmaking improvements to be continued, stay tuned...

Will we be able to make socks or foot rags? These often make a big difference in keeping frostbite at bay in the deep winter months. (I realize in real life, socks are almost always knitted rather than sewn, but it IS an unreal world, after all.  ;D)

If the process of making clothes becomes more realistic, does that mean that there will be an adjustment to the value of clothes? Also, will there be materials for clothmaking in villages? I would much rather buy a nettle cloth than weave one from scratch.

Finns have a natural aversion to socks (and who can blame them?  Have you seen how Swedes look in their sandals and socks?  Ugh!), so The Quest for Socks has traditionally been one of the most hardcore quests that the UnReal World can offer.

Yes, when cloth and wool will be featured as materials it will become possible to make socks or foot rags - among other new pieces of clothing.
However, we won't see these in the next version yet as all the planned clothmaking improvements will take several version releases to be completed.

Yes, there will be such adjustments and price of the clothes will vary depending on their quality. Also, new materials - whenever they get featured - will become available in villages, although we haven't yet decided details of their appearance.

Sven, forgive me, please!

I'm on the 'Foreign Traders' part of the game course; and while the island I live on is plagued by Vikings, I have now roamed the mainland from Kaumo to Driik for over two weeks.  Since making this post, nary a sniff of a Swede.  Sven, I'm sorry for laughing at your socks, show yourself and trade with me FFS!

Is that not more of a German thing? I personally don't wear sandals + socks, and don't know many who do. Maybe the occasional Birkenstock + sock combo is seen in the wilderness of Södermalm, but that's it.

But the Germans do it with class...
