Not bugs / Re: NOT a bug. Just aggressive coding on lynx behavior.
« on: May 10, 2021, 04:36:52 PM »
Unless it's been updated. I don't think dogs aggro unless they or there master is attacked. Also I wonder about distance from lynx to dog and PC to dog. I'm on an older version but I've returned home to see my pen of dogs happy and content only to find little red Goldie njerp sleeping in my cabins bed. So I wonder if the way the alert bark is coded if it is less effective if your dog has been left to guard.

Gameplay questions / Re: Turnip for what?

Since we're expanding in the past I've struggled with weasel, pine marten, and ermines. Turns out that small dead fall traps are to big for them but light lever traps with meat work good. Also I've caught lynx's and gluttons with small dead fall. If you F1 big dead fall it says mainly for wolves but can catch lynx and gluttons. I've always used small dead fall anything small than wolf but bigger than a rabbit

@ Tom H. To clarify you've had elk eat a harvested bog bean root set as bait same with harvested lingon berries, and you feel that you have better luck with traps baited with rye and berries than those without even if the bait is not being eaten.

The Heather is good to know although I generally move to much to make use of unharvested plants.

I even I can manage it. It's no different than a manual save.

Gameplay questions / Turnip for what?
« on: May 03, 2021, 02:30:00 AM »
I'm mostly an active hunter with some active traping, I'll set a trap after I've spotted an animal on the map. I have used turnip for elk and deer, but I'm wondering if any one has ever had success with other plants after they've been harvested. Also other than berry bushes I've never seen birds eat a harvested bait ie berries or seeds from my inventory.

Manual saves, manual saves my friend. Put a copy of your character folder in a separate file, mines called cheater btw. You die you can copy the file back into the UrW folder and your no longer dead. We call it save scumming.

Popped up on a mountain top to look around 2 elk a njerp and one bear. Spoiled for choice. As it's a new character I'll go for red shirt, I need an axe.

More interaction with craftsmen. Like having them craft a lucky punt after a certain quest is completed. Or providing them raw materials and they provide you with a processed items ie nettles or wool > fiber and yarn. Bonus if better and or higher quality depends on culture. All for a price. Also maybe instead on craftsmen we could see weavers butchers tinkers ect. Also on a wish list for busy hunters here is 200 cuts of meat I'll be back in 16 days and receive a portion of smoked meat back.

Unless some one has evidence to the contrary, bones are no good for bait. I personally prefer squirrel and bird fat as they weigh very little and .1lb of fat works just as well a 1lb of meat, I've also heard others like roaches for the same reason.

Really like the fetch idea for small game. Ive lost a few birds in game after knocking them unconscious only to have them fly away. Makes think of my friends bird dog killing wounded or stunned birds before retrieving them for us.

Your thinking Is correct find out how many tiles you can run before your speed drops. Run less than that so when you rest walk your not suffering any reduction in speed.

Do not zoom out when hunting as mentioned earlier it advances time. Also I have never had any luck spotting game again on the overland map. Even when hunting in large open mires.

Also depends on the bird, several kinds of birds will alert call for predators. Other animals will also respond to call.
