Also depends on the bird, several kinds of birds will alert call for predators. Other animals will also respond to call.

General Discussion / Re: Taking on a Njerpez w/ a dog
« on: April 06, 2021, 03:48:51 PM »
I'm running the previous version and I auto zoomed on a njerp and dog. I was unable to preemptively have my dog or companion attack his non agroed dog. But echoing others if my enemy has ranged abilities I use my dog to close the gap before they can get many shots off. Otherwise I range until they close. With an enemy dog its more like fighting wolves. Before the battle look for a place where you can put your back against so you can't be attacked from out of sight as dogs will hit and run barring that use your best judgement and try and keep the dog in sight.

Development News / Re: The Moon and The Crust

Love the moon light wondering if you also were going to add in cloud effects? While and overcast day wouldn't effect visibility there would be a huge difference between clear full moon and on one a cloudy night.

Gameplay questions / Re: Active hunting tips?
« on: March 18, 2021, 03:47:20 PM »
I play active hunters, if you can afford it buy a dog. To chase deer and elk to breathless state. As to hills and mountain remember that just because you can see the surrounding area doesn't mean you're going to see the wild life in the area. High eyesight helps the chance to spot game on the world map. When I'm hunting I generally hunt swamps or walk from peak to peak. Most of the time I get squirrels for encounter wildlife and kill. Once you tree a squirrel you can throw rocks or better yet braches at it to knock it down. Boom encounter wildlife, kill, and a hide.

General Discussion / Re: What's Going On In Your Unreal World?
« on: November 11, 2020, 12:01:08 AM »
Less of what's happening in my unreal world and more UrW happening in my world.

So my wife just gave birth to our first child on Monday. Through the process of the induction and waiting for her to dilate UrW has been there during the down times, at least for us there was plenty of hurry up and wait. UrW has been great with it ability to quickly save anytime. It's allows me to pick it up and put it down as needed to attend to my wife and babies needs. Thanks to all the UrW team for being my emotional support person.

Gameplay questions / Re: Forest maid clothing
« on: October 29, 2020, 02:51:50 PM »
Perhaps damage to clothes from falling or fighting is different than wear form activities of daily living. I know shoes and boots now wear out from walking, so maybe if you receive shoes from forest maids they won't wear out.

I would like to add the command to stay close to fight. Like a simple shield wall or line. As skyleaf mentioned many of time I watched a companion charge to there doom while I stand there thinking we would have much better odd fighting side by side.

They just ransacked the near by village. Killed 5 cows 3 villagers, and about ripped off my right arm as I rushed to help. Ambushed me from the side of small ridge. Villagers killed two. Also unless I'm missing it companions can skin animals but they can't independently tan said hides, and neither can I do so one handed. Sadness at loosing two wolf hides

Well I was I bit surprised that pack moved the two tiles down while I was setting my next traps I gambled and ignored the wolves while I finished the two deadfalls. Killed the wolf from the original trap reset and build another dead fall. One down at least 4 to go I see them hanging out a tile away from my south traps. So we will see.

Ya exact reasons I gathered the trap materials beforehand the only thing I think I could have done differently would have been to not bait the one trap and come back later to finish. As it stands I have one trapped and 3to4 free. oddly throwing things, rocks, generally causes them to flee, albeit temporarily. Maybe set some traps two tiles away, then circle to the opposite side and try and scatter them to the traps

To the trapping of birds I like either trap working if you're going to nerf something make birds in flight impossible to trap. And you must consider the price per pound of fur, pine marten and the like is valuable it's just that it's oz vrs about ten pounds of reindeer fur

General Discussion / Pack removal
« on: October 22, 2020, 06:14:04 PM »
I so I spotted a wolf pack in small stand of spruce mires surrounded by pine mire. I gather enough material for 4 big deadfall traps and go about 5 squares away from where I last saw them and start to assemble traps. I get one built and working on a second trap when the pack appears. My intention was to trap multiple wolves. However I bait my trap and run away. The wolves acted hungry and interested in my bulls. My questions are if you spotted the wolves how would you go about targeting the pack. And how would you handle the  the wolves showing up before your ready

Suggestions / Re: Finding my arrows
« on: October 12, 2020, 04:04:49 PM »
My only grumble about lost arrows is related to large open areas and the top down view. I wish there was some way to get a clue as to how far it flew which I feel is reasonable when in the more treeless maps.

When I say auto loading I mean that it is implied that the PC is manually switching the pare. Similar to how bait and or lure selection is implied when using a fishing rod
