Boards are a type of processed wooden material for construction and crafting.

Acquiring the resource

Boards can be made from fallen mature trees (tree trunks) or from logs

You need an axe to craft boards, preferably a Splitting Axe

The one axe incapable of crafting boards is the Stone Axe.

Each processed tree trunk produces 20 boards.

Usage

A board weighs 20 lbs, greatly limiting the number that can be carried before experiencing fatigue or immobilization due to encumbrance. If necessary, a large number of boards can be hauled rather than picked up by pressing (m), though this requires additional time and incurs fatigue for each tile traversed.

Uses in construction

In construction, a board is used for the following structures:

Item Type Needed
Cellar Storage 6 boards
Floor and ceiling
in a Wooden Building
Housing 6 boards
Door
in a Wooden Building
Housing 8 boards
Shutter
in a Wooden Building
Housing 2 boards
Bench Furniture 2 boards
Table Furniture 10 boards
Sleeping bunk Furniture 6 boards
"Käpälälauta"-fox trap Trap 1 board

Uses in crafting

In crafting, a board is used for the following tools and weapons:

Item Type Needed
Paddle Transport tool 1 board
Shortbow Ranged weapon 1 board
Skis Transport tool 2 boards
(skis are crafted in pairs)

Uses as firewood

Like all wooden materials, boards can be used as fuel for fires. Unlike firewood, however, boards do not serve as their own kindling, so other materials, like branches, are needed in the same tile to ignite them.
