The big improvements to crafting of clothes are on their way, as planned.
In the next version we'll be seeing pausable crafting of clothes, and the resulting garments will be quality modified depending on your skills and raw materials used.
For this, a new CLOTHCRAFT skill has been added. It works as a general skill for making clothes from a variety of materials. And that selection of materials is also planned to be expanded to cover also fabrics and wool, but for now we're first working with the existing leather, fur and birch-bark clothes.
In any case, and on any level, the new clothcraft system will have a big impact on the gameplay. The making of clothes will become more laborous, but also more flexible as you can pause the process at will. It becomes also far more rewarding once you manage to produce higher quality clothes by yourself. The price of character made clothes will now also reach the regular level as the workload and quality come into play, so a profession of a skilled fur tailor can be occasionally very beneficial.
Solid groundwork for all this is already coded and created, so let's highlight it with a few screenshots.


This is it. Clothcraft skill. Our test character isn't all too skilled yet, but she keeps improving.


She's got few average quality forest reindeer furs, and now starts making a fur shirt.


She keeps sewing for good five hours, and can now pause at will. It will take few working days for her to finish.


She rests, keeps the fire burning, and observes aquatic birds in between the working hours and days. The fur shirt projects awaits half-ready for her to continue as desired.


And finally, her fur shirt is ready. It's a rough one, but it's self-made with hard work, and she's very happy to wear it when the autumn comes.
 
Exciting clothcraft times are ahead of us.

This is great! However, should be really a new skill? We have now 3 skills related to knitting/sewing:
CLOTHCRAFT
TEXTILECRAFT
NETMAKING

Could NETMAKING be incorporated in one of the two, since it only affects... well, nets
