Mod Releases / Re: [3.63] [3.62] URWCharacterMenu v1.0.3c
« on: September 19, 2021, 04:24:48 AM »
As (if, for other subscribers) you’ve bought the Steam version of the game, you can contact Sami/Erkka for “Lifetime supporter” status on this forum. Then simply download the standalone version you need. And keep your Steam setup as is.

The post was on old version, back in February. Kicking fences doesn’t work anymore.

Might want to compress and send Sami the savegame for analysis.

Write a start up Apple script by adding the Fn key toggle:
Code: [Select]
--Check if GUI Scripting is Enabled
tell application "System Events"
if not UI elements enabled then
set UI elements enabled to true
    end if
end tell
--Enable/Disable "Use all F1, F2, etc. keys as standard function keys" option in Keyboard & Mouse Preference pane and close System Preferences
tell application "System Events"
    tell application "System Preferences"
reveal anchor "keyboardTab" of pane "com.apple.preference.keyboard"
    end tell
click checkbox 1 of tab group 1 of window 1 of application process "System Preferences"
end tell
if application "System Preferences" is running then
tell application "System Preferences" to quit
end if

And then start the game:
Code: [Select]

open application “UrW”

And then after the application exits, run the top part of script again, this time toggling the Fn off, which is exactly the same.

DISCLAIMER: I’m not on my Mac to actually test or post the whole script “turnkey” style.
IF I remember, I’ll see if can make it so...
DISCLAIMER 2: switching between apps while the game is running, the Fn controls will be inverse, e.g. volume up / down would require holding down Fn, then pressing F11/F12 (or what ever the keys are for volume control)

I’ve not met FTs with high value goods, that I’d want or had furs with me. (Should have put a save a side really)

When you ask the trader, what he reckons would be fair deal, does he list X of the furs, or does he state “I don’t think you have enough valuable goods”(sic)

General Discussion / Re: RIP, Bul
« on: September 09, 2021, 03:52:26 PM »
My method is still different from that;
1) mark location on map
2) head to the cabin
3) pick up a punt, paddle and woodsman’s axe
4) head over to the drown carcass
5) slowly & steady, cut your way to the carcass traveling in the punt.
6) drag the carcass to the shore
7) process the carcass

Gameplay questions / Re: Have you bought a hunting horn?
« on: August 17, 2021, 12:00:35 AM »
I’ve not looked for hunting horn to buy.
Usually, as in nearly every character, get them from Njerpez. @Tom H: Solo guys in 3.62 did drop them, and did still in 3.63. Raiding their villages wasn’t/isn’t necessary.

General Discussion / Re: Hunting gripe

I wouldn’t mind “recalled” tiles to get implemented.
As in; your character seems animal tracks, steps behind a tree, losing eye sight of the tracks. It’d be useful for the character to “recall” seen tracks in the out of sight area. Same would be usable for traps, and dropped items in general. If a robber happens to walk by and pick up the items, leave the “recalled things” as is until seen/visited again. Same for traps, show them on screen as last seen, if an elk tramples through loop snare, only show it triggered after revisiting.

That’d ease active hunting/tracking in thick woods. Paying attention to new tracks, next to recalled tracks, would help with crafty quarry.

I hope your characters eye sight, and tracking are sufficient for spotting and recognizing the tracks reliably.

If you paid USD20.00 you probably are not a lifetimer this is based on my assumption that it never was that cheap to become a lifetimer but do check your emails just to confirm the amount you paid years ago - assuming you still have the emails from the purchase day...

I’m pretty sure I paid only 30FMK. Finnish marks, which had exchange rate of 5.94596 FMK to 1 EUR... yeah, I think I paid (originally) just bit under 6EUR for lifetime supporter. Although it was ~23 years ago. It could’ve well been 60FMK  ;D
I’ve since donated more to the Elks.

Grax, you should be good, but you’ll get Lifetime Supporter tag faster by emailing Sami directly. (His email below does direct to the current @unrealworld.fi)

I did the same for mine, I think I originally bought the game around late 1990s... no access to the email.

Suggestions / Re: vitamins
« on: July 21, 2021, 05:26:13 PM »
Last time know, only excess vitamin C gets filtered out (via urination), which also isn’t implemented in the game. Adding the need to obtain vitamins would also require liver and other organs.
I think it’d be annoying rather than deepening the immersion/simulation.
The hunger bar and thirst bar are already more precise data than any real person knows about their own nourishment.

General Discussion / Re: Real life names for mushrooms?
« on: July 10, 2021, 09:17:59 PM »
I always thought yellow fingers were chanterelles (kanttarelli), brown coats and yellow coats as portobellos(herkkusieni)

I’ve not, subconsciously or consciously, assign real mushroom to others.

Does it crash with any prompts? Does the logs show anything?

As the original is  from early 90s, you’ll need to set dosbox to 386 or 486DX, 586/Pentium at most 4MB up to 32MB RAM. And DOS6.22.

Development News / Re: We're getting closer and closer to new release

I bet Lifetimers wouldn’t mind some beta-testing  ;D
Or even the community as a whole.
