After a bear is brought down, its skull must be hanged on a lone, mature pine tree by dropping the skull on ground and then pushing it up the tree. Failing to complete this most crucial of rituals is a certain way to anger the bear spirit and invite ill luck.
In another spell, carrying bear teeth to find hares and birds requires gathering bear's teeth from the skull before leaving it in the tree.
