This ritual is used to ask Tapio, the Lord of the Forest, to give you a safe sleep so that nothing harmful or dangerous will happen to you while sleeping, for example encountering a hungry or aggressive wild animal, robbers etc.
Safety of the Night will greatly lower the chances of aggressive predators encountering you while you sleep, and will also lower the chances of waking up due to noise, suspicion or fear.
With these words you ask Tapio, The Lord of the Forest, to watch over you during your sleep:
