Okay, I was suspecting this now I can confirm it.

A pot just lost its unpaid status.

Tuukka, of my story thread, has long been staying at a month. Im doing the island challenge so he has chosen to get to this second island and stay in the village for the ice-bound months.

On an earlier visit to the trade house I picked up the pot (unpaid) and found it was too much to afford.

Week or so later Tukka has made a shelves to trade. The shelves are a custom BAC mod item. Being heavy I dragged them over. I wanted to see if the shelves would cover all or most of the cost of the iron pot. Picking up the pot and talking to a villager they don't acknowledge the pot as needing payment.

In my inventory the pot says (unpaid)

Dropping the pot the pot no longer says (unpaid)

I haven't given them payment!

I was pretty sure this free-pay had happened before with a bag of barley grains.

I think the common elements of the bug are:

- extended stay of weeks in a village
- making things in the village
- dropping and picking up my own things
- picking up an unpaid item
- dropping an unpaid item
- more crafting, dropping, picking up my own things
- picking it up as (unpaid)
- it has lost the (unpaid) flag

I have been doing my regular zip file saving so can send over game files at various stages.

This is wierd and on reload a bit different

the pot is again showing (unpaid) but no villager I talk to accepts going into a payment conversation

Which is looking potentially dangerous. The "owner" may one day consider the pot stolen. Which is lots of real problems.

Walking with the pot (unpaid) in inventory triggers the "stop thief" reaction.

However I still can't enter into a trade dialogue for the pot (unpaid) in inventory

Even when a named villager shouts at me not to steal the pot, like Riiku, they still don't enter the trade dialoge to pay for it

The pot would have at one point be in a trade dialuge. I didnt have enough to pay so cancelled out of that.

I forget if I gave it back to the npc and they placed it on the ground or if after cancel my character was the one to put it on the ground.

Emails have been sent to Saami with game files around the bugs. Note the shelve to pay for is a custom item so has a custom graphic and will be invisible without that.

Experiment:

Pick up the troublesome pot (unpaid)
Pick up some other trade goods

Weird:
i could pay for the other trade goods with the pot (unpaid)

>>>>

Might use this as a stepping stone to correct trading the pot... Ill try that now

Swap trading worked

= picked up smoke salmon
= picked up pot (unpaid)

Spoke to NPC

Trade menu opened
Paid for salmon with pot (unpaid)
close conversation

Reopen NPC conversation
pot (unpaid) is showing in their inventory with the (unpaid) tag still there

bought the pot (unpaid) for shelves and various furs

Pot appears in my inventory with the (unpaid) tag now gone

Tested leaving village was ok.

Bug exists but is player fixable.
