I have yet to receive less than 3 skillups from crafting a single batch of shingles. In fact i found i even get 6 or more - if i begin on one day i get +3 timbercraft skill immediately when i begin, then i pause crafting, and when i finish crafting the shingles the next day i get another +3 timbercraft skill.

This seems really excessive. I guess it has to do with the fact that you make 500 shingles... so it's giving 500 chances to level the timbercraft skill every time you craft.

I guess this is also why making boards sometimes gives +2 skill from one tree trunk. But skill gain there seems much more fair than in the case of shingles.

After some more testing, it seems you get the +3 skill every time you resume crafting the shingles as well.

So it seems as if maybe there are two bugs - one that crafting shingles gives huge skill gain, and another that skill gain is also applied every time crafting is resumed.

Yes, these things require attention. Firstly, there's no cap for amount of skill rolls so shingles get hundreds of them - and that results in super fast skill gain.
And as the crafting related skill gain rolls weren't designed for pausable crafting resuming always gives you another set of skill gain rolls. We'll need to adjust it so that the skill gain is checked only after the craft is finished, or at least completed to decent extent.

Making boards and other hardcoded crafting has the skill rolls adjusted differently and we're checked upon moving into pausable crafting so those sections are mostly working ok.
