Depends on poison. Some absolutely would lots of other are destroyed by heat. If your poisoning for pests then it doesn't matter just don't eat them

The float/drag was not Finnish but from a first nation tribe. I was going off the idea that people in similar environments and with similar resources would develop similar technologies. As to the 300kg animal it may very well be able to generate enough force to pull a man but it  is swimming in water which will severely curtail it's ability to move a land based object.

European adders have a blood venom that compared to other vipers is less toxic so if you wanted a paralysis posion you would be limited to some type of Flora. However I would not mind some poisoned bait for pest control at home stead

Ya this last fight for me was a hill bordering mire, and if you have dogs leash them or you will lose them. I wish you could call back dogs from fights. I lost a dog to a different pack down south due to a fatal case of natural selection. I had traped most of the pack already. There was one in a trap and two still free. Attacking the trapped one agroed the other two. Killed one of them and thought heck two dogs one wolf left, get them boys. The idiots turned around and went after the trapped wolf. My small male dog took three bites and died. Killed by a trapped animal that he could have backed up to safety from, and the Darwin award goes to.  I could just imagine my char chasing them going NO! NO!! BAD DOG NO!! GO THE OTHER WAY ATTACK THE OTHER WOLF!!! You &#@$ing idiot dog COME!!!

General Discussion / How to survive (maybe) wolves
« on: January 22, 2019, 06:58:04 AM »
I'll admit I take foolish chances but I've survived a couple of wolf packs now so here is my tips on how up your odds of survival. Firstly pray for lluck. Second wolves like to hit a run so you have to work with that. Wait for the wolves to come to you. Check behind you often, number1 on the number pad rotates you 180°. Attack the lead wolf usually once hurt it will run. Do Not Chase it. Instead look around and see if another wolf is rushing you. Basically you are going to bounce the wolves off of you. As one flees the others tend to re agro and come back. Keep your head on a swivel.  And use the enter to key to check if they're still near by  If you can get a solid object, trees big rocks, behind you great do it. With luck you can turn their hit and run tactics to your advantage and only have to fight one at a time. Lastly pray for luck

General Discussion / Re: What's Going On In Your Unreal World?
« on: January 22, 2019, 06:26:19 AM »
Well I did something foolish but it paid off. I'm up around owl country exploring and looking for a likely trout stream when I see a nine member wolf pack. Normally I set some traps to deal with such things but it's been several days since my last hunt and I have no bait. So I leash my dogs load my fine heavy Xbow with a fine broadhead. I pat my master work battle axe knowing she's going to be needed  soon. If I can kill one and get out I'll have the bait I need. Early on I take a nasty bite to my belly, but i chant an incantation and stop my blood loss and mange to kill two wolves. Now a smart man would thank the gods and run but I'm just some dumb kamo kid who's got his blood up now. So I zoom out see the pack a tile away. Other than that bite I came out ok. I've killed two injured several more and feathered one badly in the leg. So I say why not go another round. Same tactics close rage shot then battle axe. I kill a few more. Go another couple rounds end up taking down 8 of the 9 last one high tailed it into a forest where I lost it's tracks. Then on the way back to camp I ran into a bull elk. I'll be busy for a bit, hope the weather stays cold.

My Char is not much of a trapper but I was wondering if any one has had luck trapping these small animals. what I've been trying is meat and loop snares after I randomly encounter them but no luck. Any one tried light deadfalls or even paw pawboards with any luck

Word to if advise keep a close I on leather the soaking process takes days and once it is complete the hide will begin to lose quality and rot like normal. I have lost or let many hides go to harsh because I was away roaming when the de-hair process was done

I did not splice a village into the game, I merely "sliced" one out of the world.

General Discussion / An observation on a lost adventurer

I recently "recolated" a Forrester village to the spirit world, so that I could use it as a home base. A funny thing happened weeks latter, I ran into an adventurer lost in the forest cover. One I think the game spawned on purpose as I had just started the learn a new spell quest. I brought him to my empty village so see what would happen. It was a success he taught me a spell. Maybe 4-7 days later I returned after some adventuring so see if he would live there. I found him hanging about 2 tiles away in a field. On a side note days later I found a Njerp in my bed. My penned dog was totally fine with it. Some guard dog she is, guess people all look alike to her

Did some very light googling I did not find any fin specific information but other northern peoples who hunt with harpoons sometimes add a float or bag that tires the animal as it drags it through the water. Also on has to remember that while a seal may be heavier than a human the question is how much can the seal pull in the water it's doubtful that it can pull equal to it's weight as it gas nothing to push off of other than water.
