General Discussion / Forest reindeer have two characteristics
« on: July 31, 2020, 07:53:16 PM »
Forest reindeer have two characteristics. They are deadly. One is the sentinel, which is not particularly deadly because many people use bows instead of crossbows. The second is that they will try to gather together. With these two points, we can easily kill them. The weapon we need to use is the crossbow. The crossbow can ensure long-range hits and is very suitable for hurting sentries. The arrows I use are broad-headed arrows, and the benefits of bleeding are very large. Whether it is for humans or animals, I am really not used to using conventional arrows, blunt-headed arrows, oh no, if I want to ensure the integrity of the fur, I will Select the trap. I easily killed a group of eight forest reindeer. My crossbow skills are practiced very high, and I am not sure if low skills will have good results. Many interesting things appeared in the hunt. When I am not trying to get close to the race like using a longbow, but shooting at a greater distance or even at the edge of my vision, the sentries of the race will keep their eyes on me. In this case, they will not run for long and long distances. After I loaded the crossbow, I didn't need to follow my footprints for a long time. In addition, the injured reindeer will take me to the group. The last deer in the group will return to the fallen but not dead reindeer and let me win the Grand Slam. I didn’t chase it, search for it, I just stood next to the fallen reindeer, sneaking, reloading, waiting until it appeared in my field of vision, shooting

Bug reports / punt, ski and ice surface
« on: July 31, 2020, 03:16:58 PM »
I received an assignment about the water folk. I tried to go to the island in early spring, but neither punt nor ski can help because the ice has not melted yet. I have to wait for the ice to dissolve before I can pass? This is too real. (No, it's not true at all!) I couldn't let such a little difficulty hinder me, so I decided to try to use punt and the human body to break the ice(When practicing swimming, I carry a punt relay,  I plan to use punt relay to ride through the ice) I entered the deep water , and the ice broke, I put down the punt and continued to enter the deep water area, repeating this behavior. leaving 15 ice holes。When i repeat this behavior again, I could only use the boat to run back and forth on the broken ice surface, and I could not leave the boat. Go on the other ice, I'm trapped
Fortunately, I brought enough air-dried meat to last until the ice and snow melted
I'm not sure if this is a bug

msglog:the ice prevents you from rowing there

No, they don't. Humans do, but small animals (up to and including wolf size) can run through them, with the big ones preferring openings when present. Bears can smash fences.

It's been said that a double layer of fences confound animals, although I haven't tried myself. I line the inside of the fence guarding my fields with fox pawboards and/or snares. I still get some birds and hares in them, though, but the somewhat larger animals tend not to walk through small traps, even when they can (large animals can walk through small traps without taking any harm, while still triggering the traps. Humans can intentionally dismantle traps and pass through them without triggering them (assuming they know the traps are there).

I decided to build a log wall for the farm, but before that I will surround the farm with traps
Does a dog on the farm help repel birds?

49
Build a palisade instead of fence. You know, log wall.

Thank you, I will replace my fence with a log wall

50
Animals will climb over the fence, how should I guard against them?

Gameplay questions / Re: Game remembering meat drying?
« on: July 30, 2020, 07:47:27 AM »
I have meat drying in an outdoor cellar, in winter. When I use the : to get something from a cellar it usually tells me if there is meat drying and for how many more days. In fact, I have several batches of meat drying (from before the last patch) and it reports their status.

However, I just put in 300 elk cuts to dry and, when I check the cellar, it only tells me about the older meat that's drying. No mention of the new 300 cuts. Is this a new feature, or a bug?

Are there any benefits to making dried meat in the cellar?

General Discussion / Re: Companions won't fell trees, why?
« on: July 30, 2020, 07:45:07 AM »
DON'T give them ranged weapons. They're horrible with them, in that they don't care if anyone is in the line of fire, so those buggers have probably caused as much damage to their own team as they have to enemies (I've had my characters shot in the back multiple times before I learned the lesson to never to hire anyone with a bow).

If a team uses long-range weapons, it can effectively reduce accidental injuries, because it does not need to be mixed with the enemy. The next time I hire, I will try to buy their melee combat weapons before hire so that they can only use bows and arrows. To a certain extent, the problem I encountered is the same as the problem you encountered, how to avoid team kills. Besides, I also hope that they will not try close combat, which means the possibility of injury. If you plan to hire NPCs to fight, but don’t plan to equip them with long-range weapons, you can try to replace them with a good armor

The part about "branch" doesn't make any sense to me, so I assume it has been lost in translation.

I'd guess that refers to the quest; Villagers ask for a certain amount of branches - but they never seem to do anything with those branches, after one year the branches are still there unused. So, the simulation is not (yet) that detailed.

But otherwise, as others have mentioned, village inventories are slowly refreshed.

Yes, you are right

54
The escorted person acts like you wanted to hire them. I.e. they expect you to feed them. Try “deliver” her some food. Might get her going.
The ‘escort long range’ quest tends to have nice reward.

My task has exceeded the deadline, next time I receive a similar task, I will try to give them food

55
They're hard to find. You tend to have the best luck in Driik territory.

Driik is wealthy, and other places, fur, roast meat, seeds, vegetables, animals

Although it was difficult to persist, I completed the search and it turned out that I did not find the goods I needed. Will the goods in the village be refreshed? I know that fur and food will change, but will weapons, masterpiece weapons, be refreshed? I received two assignments about branch, but I found that they have never used branch. One year has passed and the numbers are still the same

General Discussion / Bonfire is a bug
« on: July 29, 2020, 04:50:35 PM »
In the past I used loop snares to prevent enemies from approaching me, whether it was an animal or a human, that was an old version. Do traps still hinder animals? Humans can flow unimpeded on traps, as far as I have seen, I don't know if they will get hurt when they walk through traps. What I want to say is that a bonfire can be used to stop the enemy from advancing, find a reasonable location and put the bonfire on, you can destroy any civilization, except for bows and throwing weapons, the world has no threat at all.
Will this be corrected? Give humans more long-range weapons, or throw weapons, or let them have the ability to cross the campfire. They should be able to jump over the campfire, although it looks like they will walk on the flames, which can be imagined as jumping. I mean bonfires should not be obstacles. They should be able to remove traps or obstacles on the road

57
Sometimes even if it’s new bloodstains, you can’t get information using track skills

General Discussion / Re: Companions won't fell trees, why?
« on: July 29, 2020, 03:37:08 PM »
Hello everyone,,

I have games on both the free versions and Steam version in which Companions, when told to fell trees, state that they will WHEN they have the proper equipment and when there are proper trees to fell.

I've given a woodsman's ax to the first one. He already had a handaxe. Still the same response. In the other game, the Companion has his own woodsman's ax. There are plenty of larger trees in both games yet neither will comply with my orders.

Does anybody have an answer as to why they refuse to work?

Compared with this, I want to know how to drop npc's melee weapons. I give them clothes to improve their defense power. I give them longbows and arrows, hoping that they can use long-range shooting to maintain good physical condition. They always give up longbows and arrows and draw out knives

59
What to do if NPC does not follow the escort mission?
kill her?
I have received her escort mission three times in a row. I told her that I was ready, but she never followed me to Kaumo. Perhaps the source of the problem will be the solution to the problem. The question is how can I assassinate someone in the village without incurring hatred

Gameplay questions / Re: How far will you shoot your first arrow?
« on: July 28, 2020, 07:01:58 AM »
@甜汤 Appreciate your sharing and considerately translate the content into Chinese, though I can read English without much problem so you could just type English to save your time :)
I rarely do active hunting since my current character's speed is sh*tty (I made this character base on real life lol) so your experiences are surely valuable, I might try some of your tricks next time.
Broadhead arrows are good, but they are real rare, I searched 70% of villages in Driikiläiset region and only found 5 arrows. Too precious to waste them on animals, i will save them when dangers (robbers, wolves, etc) emerge through. Not going to kill any traders/ other peaceful people for arrows, that's just don't feel right. You may say it's roleplay reason.
Since i am trying make my current character lives as long as possible, I am not going face bear/ wolves directly, not until they' are trapped. I had faced 8x wolves in a frozen lake, and the tension is just unbearable when I face them head to head and retreat step by step. Not going to go through that once again. Since the last encounter, I even spent a whole in-game year to built a stronghold, preventing wolves siege into my barn and slaughter all my domestic animals.
Your experiences on crossbow just answered what I needed, so based on the experiences of both of us, I would say crossbow seems to be better when hunting non aggressive animals. This becomes doubtful when concerning predators through.
By the way, elks and forest reindeer loves turnips (大頭菜), even if you don't farm, you can find tons of turnips in villages rather easily and cheap, very useful bait.

I originally loved peace, but I was robbed by robbers.
I originally loved peace, but the businessman was too dark-hearted.
I originally loved peace, but the businessman gave me clothes.
I originally loved peace, but the merchant gave me silver jewelry.
I used to love peace, but there is no masterpiece in the village
I go to all the villages, I have 30 punts
High risk and high return. I once got two bloody death warnings. I survived, but I can only crawl on the ground for a long time.
I don’t have a masterpiece small knife, nor a masterpiece wide knife
When I knew that merchants did not sell knives, I had no demand for merchants, and my cellar was full of clothes. I have all masterpiece weapons except the pocket knife and wide knife. Broad-headed arrows that can't be used up. At this time, I chose to attack them just to try more possibilities, about how to fight against merchants. I have collected a lot of bone trophies. Human corpses will leave bones after they rot. The previous version of killing and cannibalism was too evil, so it was corrected, but human bones can still be obtained. It is not clear whether the dog will eat the carcass. I brought three dogs, a new way to deal with merchants. I leash the dogs and prevent them from attacking. They surround me. When the merchant approaches, they seem to suffer a penalty. I can still shoot arrows in close combat. They help distract the businessman? When all the merchants were bleeding and paralyzed, I released the dog, pressed wait, and the game ended. I just hunted three elks in succession on the way to the seal tribe, and a small elk ran away. I used a crossbow and broad-headed arrows, I injured them first, and then the dog could easily catch them, and then slowly Loading the broad-headed arrow, elk can't escape. I once got a superior elk skin, but I can only make a fine elk fur. This is why I crave a knife or a wide knife. In order to get a good fur, I am unwilling to make more wounds and wait for the elk to bleed to death (this may be a bit cruel for animals, but I know very well that this is just a game and should not be linked to reality) elk hits the neck twice In the case of bleeding, they can still stand up and escape, they are very strong. With the crossbow, I can easily hit their bodies from the maximum distance. If it’s the head, there is still a big chance.
Owl culture has a crossbow foundation. If you choose to add points to the crossbow after completing two tasks, you will gain a higher proficiency. I will choose attributes to add points, skills can be practiced continuously, rituals can be obtained through tasks, only physical attributes cannot be increased
The weapons I carry are battlesword, bow, arrow, crossbow,
Broad-headed arrows can be traded from merchants, and my settlement is near the kuikka culture. No man's land. There is a mountain range and 30+ caves near the settlement. I am pretty sure that the cave has nothing to do with bears. I found three bears near a dense forest without a cave. They are the stupidest creatures. A trap pit can be caught with a piece of meat. Kuikka has 28 villages densely distributed, I am not sure if this will increase the chance of a merchant's spawning. When I went out, there was a high mountain nearby. Below the high mountains is a large swampland with a wide view. I often find a new team after destroying a team, I'm not sure if this is related. In a battle, I encountered two merchant teams. Practice skills with animals trapped by traps. Occasionally I will buy animals and slaughter them when I need them, about the big deer mission. Many of my combat skills have improved in fighting against humans. You can choose to hunt bandits in nje culture
You can pick up the weapon dropped by the enemy in 1v1 and use a blunt weapon to injure the enemy. It is not easy to lethal. When they lose their weapon, it helps to practice dodge
You can store a lot of food before winter, run on the ice, practice your skiing skills and sneaking, which is very boring, but it helps the rapid growth of skills

If it's a bear, I use a crossbow to taunt it, I don't want to chase it so I anger it, make sure it hits, and pull out the battlesword. If you have good protection, wolves are easier to deal with than human teams because they have no protection. Crossbow is not suitable for facing a team, you can choose longbow to deal with wolves, keep your distance, ensure safety, and sneak. In any case, you need battlesword to deal with close combat. These are all external forces, and the real power comes from: the role of Kaumo cultural background, with the most powerful protection. Kaumo can have a very high level of protection, as well as other cultures, but the point is that the cumbersome penalty for kaumo’s equipment is only 13%, which is insignificant.
If you don't plan to play a powerful kaumo warrior, I have an additional option for you, that is, a well-equipped team. You can choose some npcs with high weapon proficiency, their hire price is very cheap. My teammate has master skills. Regarding spears and bows, I provided him with weapons. He killed a bear alone. He came from my friendliest village.

I will choose to deal with wolves in the forest. Dealing with wolves on the plains requires luck and guarantees a high kill rate or paralyzed probability. When dealing with wolves in the forest, you can choose some suitable terrain to avoid damage. Because of vision problems, the wolf may not find you. You can avoid being siege by sneaking. Encounter wolves on the plains, if you can cause the bleeding effect, it is easy to deal with. They are easily paralyzed, they are very fragile, they will run away, I paralyzed 3 wolves in a fight, and the rest ran away. I rested until morning, they went and returned, then ate a corpse and ran away. Don’t use dogs against wolves, they are more terrible than bears

For low-protection melee units like wolves, it is also a good choice to give them a javelin when they approach. At the beginning I used javelins, but later I didn’t use them because they were too heavy to make good javelins, and they might disappear with animals. The first time I encountered robbers, they ran up to me one by one and were killed by a javelin. The thrown javelin is the most powerful melee weapon
