Bug reports / Re: punt, ski and ice surface
« on: August 05, 2020, 03:06:18 PM »
I believe you should only be able to walk out on ice from a punt if it isn't in the water, so, holding no paddle you'd be able to walk over your punt out onto the ice, and it ought to be possible to move from a punt on top of the ice onto the ice as well.

I tried and found that I can walk from punt to the ice near the shore, but not from punt to the ice in deep water
This should not be considered a bug

Control the degree of satiety and thirst to control the sleep time. This time can be actively adjusted. It is not difficult to adjust the sleep time required for different fatigue levels. Usually the inability to fall asleep in the wild and rain disturbs the law, but you can correct it with satiety and thirst. Rarely, ignoring hunger, thirst and fullness, fully recover from fatigue

Thank you. I can see it can work but it's a lot of bother for something we should be able to do without affecting our nutrition level.

You can suggest sami to join an select,

Before this question, I also hope that I can choose the sleep time, but the demand is not so urgent. I  thinking that it would be great if the addition of companions can provide their eyesight to help find animals, but companions have no attributes. and their Load is very low

They will essentially stay where they are, i.e. there is an area of a few tiles where there are footprints, and it is possible to follow the footprints until you get near enough for them to home in on you. The crucial thing is to find the first footprints, but once you've done so you can leave, raise a posse, and return to engage them.

When I receive this task for the third time, I will complete it!

Hey, after your question I tried copying and pasting the world files from my active character(Not dead ones because I don't think you can restore the world files from them.). I copied the WORLD.BAK , WORLD.DAT and WORLD.PLM files. Created a new character, then copied these 3 files into the (\UnRealWorld\Your newly created character name here). You also keep your starting scenario, and if you want to also copy the weather over, I think you also should copy the WEATHER.DAT file to your newly created character.

edit: I forgot to mention, your character also keeps his/her original spawning location as far as I tested so you may encounter a problem that you might spawn in deep water when you copy the world files.

Hope I could help.

Thanks, it is feasible, I have created a new role. My previous role focused on speed and endurance, but he was a blind man(eyesight very low)

Gameplay questions / Have you bought a hunting horn?
« on: August 05, 2020, 02:42:26 PM »
Where should I buy a masterpiece broad knife?
I can’t make superior elk fur and superior bear fur
I mean, what culture will refresh broad knife? I found that some cultures have a lot of crops、 barbecue or fur
Have you bought a hunting horn?

Yeah, it's one of the most infuriating tasks to complete as the robbers don't ever leave the forest cover, and don't seem to leave tracks on the overland map until AFTER you've zoomed in on their location. You have to manually zoom into each tile, and look around for human tracks. If they're nearby you also won't be able to exit the area to the overmap, which is a good indicator. You will lose time, sanity, and unless you savescum (rollback your save to when you just accepted the quest), your save file size is going to massively inflate from all the local maps you've visited. The reward is pretty good though (100 squirrel pelts worth of goods), but I think I'll just save myself the effort and skip that one, next time.

Will they stay where they are? If they can move, it is a nightmare

There's no smart way to go about it. You have to do a brute force search of all the tiles within the area. For open terrain it's sufficient to zoom in, look both ways, and then zoom out, but with spruce you can miss them using that method.
They're almost always hidden, so trying to look for them from a high place is unlikely to be successful.
A useful tactic when looking for robbers is to have a beggars outfit, i.e. only carry stuff you can do without, so if you encounter the robbers and fail to get away, you can surrender to them and then return equipped with your real stuff and supported by a posse of hirelings, as you now know where they are.

The payment doesn't nearly cover the cost of hiring a posse to deal with the robbers...

I always thought it was because my eyesight was too low to see from the big map...

Button 7 seems to be able to clean up some garbage and effectively reduce the archive volume. I found that when the archive is compressed by compression software, it is less than 8m

If I plan to create a new character to survive in an old world, what should I do?

Increasingly realize the importance of eyesight attributes

How to complete the homeland robbers task? Search all tiles?

Are there any skills to improve search efficiency?

I'm rather surprised to hear of a hunter who uses a crossbow! All of my guys have always had pathetic skill with that weapon.

Crossbow helps to shoot it at animal alert distance

And what's the point of this mass slaughter? Kill one at a time, process it, and only then return for more. Killing all of them at once just results in a lot of lost meat and fur.

In winter, all fur processing can be completed, and the food will not spoil too much

Firstly, I believe you can't perform the ritual (successfully) unless the rock is surrounded by open water.

Secondly, the way to use a watercraft with ice is to smash the ice (using the command to get a drink of water is one way; there's also an explicit command to smash ice, for fishing, I believe). Once you have a hole in the ice you can push your craft there, smash the ice with the paddle for the next tile, paddle there, etc. It's tedious and tiring, but does work.
You can't leave your craft to go onto ice with a paddle in your hand, as that's considered paddling, and the ice blocks you from doing that. You can, however "paddle" up onto land and leave that way.

You gave me the answer to escape the predicament, but I still have a question. At first I could walk directly to the ice from punt, but then I couldn’t do it again, even if I discard everything。
This is strange. Is it because time has passed that the ice layer has become thinner so that it can no longer possess properties similar to land?
