Gameplay questions / Re: Why are my pets fighting each others?
« on: August 29, 2020, 05:21:53 PM »
One thing you can do if your animal is escaping is unleash it and then quickly releash it. This calms it down. Might be safest to do it indoors but I've never had it move in the time it takes to unleash and releash, it might not consume a full turn.

I often unleash my dogs in hunting elks, while unleash doesn't seem to consume any turn, leash animals certainly does consume a bit of time.

Gameplay questions / Need help on the "Kaumo furs" quest
« on: August 29, 2020, 05:18:50 PM »
I hunted down 3 elks and a bear, skinned and processed in the Kaumo territory and the mission still haven't count as finished.
The quest said "..your task is to hunt for a valued fur bearing animal and use your hideworking skill to skin it.."
if elk furs aren't valuable enough, isn't bear fur one of the most valuable fur in the game?
What exactly I have to do to finish this quest?

it's happened to me with sheep and dog too, sometimes the animal just gets scared of the dog and flees and then attacks it. i think it's a bug

Maybe it's a feature :P

In the past, I've accidentally shot a dog and the others attacked and killed it.

I once accidentally hit my sow and was attacked by it. My solution that time is as follows: One solution I've found to work is to tie (if possible) the animal to a tree, keep your other animals apart from it, and then log out the game.

Avoid shooting your own animals when hunting/fighting. Avoid clubbing your own animals while hunting/fighting.

that's useful to know, but in this case I believe I haven't hit my sow/ dog lately :-\

I was preparing my luggage inside my house, packing foods into my bull and heard sound of fighting right behind me.
My sow was chasing my dog and my dog was clearly got beaten. No clues on how this happened.
It never happened before, anyone tell me how is this happening?

An update to this possible bug, not exactly the same case but I think it is relevant.
In a pine mire, I was building a shelter and I told my companion to build a fire at the mean time.
After the fire was build, my companion walk straight to SW, zero intention to return to me.
When I realized he's going into the darkness without reason, he's already gone too far for me to command him to return.
And my character is too slow to chase him, in desperate I tried to zoom-out and it worked.
My companion is just a tile away from me after zoom-in, but he still wanted to walk away.
Again, I have to [!]Command him and told him to stop task, then he finally willing to stay near me.

Gameplay questions / Why is the mushroom named Tellervo's gift?

Kind of curious. The mushroom can't even be eaten raw but it's called a gift from the goddess of forest :-\

Stories / Re: [Short story] Faster.

Oskari the child, curiously ask why I made the big deadfall trap. "To outsmart, not outrun" I said.
Screams, swears and growls exploded behind me, from the center of the village, all of sudden.
I ran, unleashed my hounds, hands on my bow and arrows. Only to find it is too far, no windows to shoot.
Men and women were slaughtered by the beasts, boys and dogs tried hard to save them, only to be overran.
In split of seconds, chaos became silent bloodshed.

I wish I could run faster.

Stories / [Short story] Faster.
« on: August 22, 2020, 03:57:18 AM »
Eikka the Vagabond hunter, a hermit I encountered earlier in the wilderness, a trustworthy bear-hunting companion of mine.
Died. Not far outside the village we decided to make a temporarily stop.
I ran, blood was still scattered on ground. Then became a trail too long that lead to his still warm corpse.
Throat got torn wide open, eyes staring forward, hands won't let go his handaxe.
I wish I could run faster.

Bug reports / [3.63 - Steam] Villagers not responding to predator
« on: August 21, 2020, 06:21:14 AM »
Look at how lovely the wolf enjoying sows in the pen.
Perhaps that's how dogs get tamed from wolves?
And the villagers are just being so chill, I wander if I am the only one get surprised by a lone wolf calmly stay in pen and without being aggressive.

When searching infos in forum, I am quite surprised to found this development news: https://www.unrealworld.fi/forums/index.php?topic=1744.0
Did't realize this interview is years ago as I just saw it recently, and immediately been hooked and play the game since then.
Sadly there's no English translation, but the interview itself is quite in-depth and nicely wrote.

Not bugs / Re: [3.63] NPC hunters don't pick up their arrows.

@Tom H
Kind of off-topic, but I am currently searching a former companion who failed to return his village and went missing. Can you provide more information/ details how your former companion behaves right now? Like which area/terrain the companion wander most and is it able to see this companion in zoom-out map? Normally how do you find this companion, or he just stuck in one of the tiles and refuse to leave? Thanks in advance.

Still early winter, ice formed in mires but not solid enough to walk on above.
When exploring the pine/ open mires, I found one of my hired npc disappeared. Tracing back I found him wandering nearby randomly, with no  intention to return to me. I have to [!]Command him, told him to stop task (which is weird, I never told him to do any task), then he finally return to me. This happened multiple times, and I observed this will happen after every time they fall through thin ice and get back to ground.

I wish I discover his missing earlier, but I was busy farming and hunting in spring and went sailing to the western coast, traveled the Northern region my whole summer. When I have time to visit the village again it was already fall. :'( Tried the URWCharacterMenu earlier in testing character, but none of its' function seems useful in this situation. At least the x-ray vision not work as I thought how it works. *Sigh* Let's hope for the best, perhaps he's not eaten by the forest, he's just enjoying his hermit life in wilderness.

A quick update.
So I asked for suggestion in both official forum and reddit, despite quite a few upvotes & views in both forums, not many people drop some lines before they leave. I guess that means even experienced players don't have much solution.

And Arams, the missing Driikilais adventurer, still haven't return. It's Day 7th of 13th weeks before midwinter point in-game today, exactly a year after he went missing. I decided to search between settlement and the village, back and forth, until I can do it no more. Totally dumb but at least I tried.

Wish me and my crews luck, and leave some words if you have any ideas & solutions :)
