I agree with this, I think it can balance the trapping quite a bit. Mostly I am swimming in elk or reindeer hides if I set up half a tile trap line, catching mostly small animals would require you to invest a little bit more time to trapping and reduce it's passive power.

As far as big animal hides, I think if Sami makes them harder to catch with traps, their value right now would make better sense imo. Active hunting makes it a little bit tricky to get perfect hides all the time because of the damage you need to make in order to kill. If you think about it, a huge hide which you can make a full dress that keeps you warm is going to be pretty valuable especially in the north. ;D

But overall I think this is a great adjustment to the game.

Mod Releases / Re: [Tool] Character Designer 1.0.0

Hey thanks for sharing the source code! I just dove into programming and the URW dev team was a great inspiration, and naturally I am interested in the things that also works around the game too ;D . I think it is really cool what you are doing with both the cheat menu and this program (obviously amazing sprites in the designer thanks to the artist).

Are you thinking about making this kind of programs open source? Maybe some other coders might give it a try and implement other stuff or personalise it more. I personally am not that great of a programmer but I am also interested in how to write something similar to these and slowly build upon this kind of programs.

Obviously it is your code and you are to give the final choice, but I think it won't hurt to make these open source just chilling there in github.  ;D  ;D

And it is an amazing program IMO that's kind of why I want to see how it is implemented btw.

Usage of the traded boards can really go hand in hand with the building deterioration in the dev plans. The houses and the saunas deteriorate, villagers trade or craft boards and build new houses. It seems to be a really cool way to add more life to the villages.

Suggestions / Re: Finding my arrows
« on: October 12, 2020, 04:46:02 PM »
My kind of problem with the arrows is that whenever I fire an arrow to an animal that is at the same level of height with me the arrows seems to fly away a lot. Especially in the mires that don't really have that much trees.

When you think about real life obviously it should be really hard for you to actually find one in the mires but because the arrow buries itself in the ground. I mostly lose my arrows because they fly so far away. I don't know if the arrow bury itself in the game or I am just bad at finding my arrows  ;D

Not bugs / Re: [3.63] "NUMPAD 0" registering as "0"
« on: September 27, 2020, 10:42:24 PM »
I tried reproducing the bug after I posted the message. I remember this bug from my playtimes but never really bothered to open a topic about it as I thought this was a keyboard issue.

Now as far as my reproducing attemps go, I can't seem to reproduce it really. Maybe the "bug" fixed itself I don't really know. Thanks for checking the code for us though  ;D

This one also happens to me, also I seem to have problems with the NUMPAD 9 button too. I thought this was a problem with my keyboard. As my keyboard chatters sometimes(repeating clicks without intention). I use Logitech G810 maybe the model has something to do with it I don't really know. It doesn't happen that often but I get different commands like "Throw", "Eat" also with this(maybe because it really is a setup problem).

I also can't really reproduce it but the longer I play, the higher chance of this happening it seems to me at least.

Forgot to add: NUMPAD 9 prompts for punch NUMPAD 3 I believe prompts for last repeated attack for me(This information maybe wrong because I usually immediately click ESC and not check the command).
I edited again with checking something and numpad 3 actually registers as "3" not throw.

Gameplay questions / Re: Jinxing traps

That is not the case for me although I don't really do much trapping. That's beauty of this game though, if it works for you, do it  ;D

Maxwell is definitely a spambot as he just copied the first reason and probably put it into translate or something and posted a link under it.

Solved'n'fixed bug reports / Re: [3.63] Ghost-Spruces in the forest
« on: September 08, 2020, 01:00:46 PM »
If you were to read my second message in that topic you would understand my point. My point is, this forum is not full of people, this is a small community. To me, it is so weird to see someone replying to most people like that.

And the point I was trying to make in the message I wrote just above, is that yes I don't have a list like that because I don't say the devs don't know history of their own country just because I misunderstood the patch notes.

It is not about protecting the devs, they can very well defend their game and their decisions, it is about coming to a forum of a very niche game where the consistent posters are not that much, and asking them a question and saying that their assumption is half-assed.
I fully see that this is not "just your way of communicating" right now, I won't reply to your messages from now on and I probably guess that you will also do the same.

Modding / Re: Fish traps?
« on: September 08, 2020, 11:33:49 AM »
Right now there is no way to block the water flow as far as I know. So your only way to mod right now is to reskin already existing game items(Modding is very easy this way but limited as you see).

Then why is it that you can put a list of people being hostile to you and I can't? Somebody tries to find a reason to your bug and you write "I don't want half-assed assumptions tossed around.". You don't need to write this way.

I don't know if this is really your intention or just the way you type, but it comes up very rude and hostile. I think you are the only person who put up a list of people being "hostile" to you in the forum. If it stinks everywhere you go, maybe check under your shoes... Just a tip.

Suggestions / Re: Nefarious NPC
« on: September 07, 2020, 10:49:19 AM »
I think they can add a great moral dilemma into the game. Maybe one village's all animals have perished, and out of desperation they decide to steal some animals. Will you help the poor villagers or you think that no matter what the circumstances are one shouldn't commit such a thing. They might add a greater immersion and personality into the villages and into your character.

But obviously these kind of quests would require a huge scenario to be built, and all the AI and everything need to be coded in also.

Bug reports / Re: [3.63 - Steam] Domestic animals fight each others to death
« on: September 03, 2020, 11:23:34 AM »
This is just a thought but maybe the animals don't want other animals in their enclosure? Maybe the bull got aggressive and territorial, I would try to distance different species and see what happens then.

Off-topic / Re: Who were "Njerpez" ?
« on: August 24, 2020, 12:53:06 PM »
While things you said about history are true, saying that you are not a historian just because you can code a historical game is a huge understatement to the devs imo. This game is under development for 25+ years. The devs are also very much interested in the folklore, history of the proposed timeline and place.
You can defend the world you created by just saying that "I wanted it this way.", now I am not saying this is how Erkka and Sami are thinking but the novgorod situation is just silly IMO. I don't really understand what you really want by historical accuracy. Do you want the njerpez to completely eliminate eastern tribes as the time goes on? Do you want njerpez in Seal tribe areas?
To me, it is still a high history simulation. Just because you can't find real life representation of a tribe doesn't mean that the game is fantasy and the time and location should be changed or so. Unreal World, at least right now, is more concerned with you and the nature rather than historical relations about the tribes within the game.
