Bug reports / Re: Horrendous Visual Bug
« on: February 06, 2021, 06:42:28 PM »
It looks like something that should happen when a character gets his eyes injured badly, which results in dramatical decreasing of vision range. And as soon as the wounds heal a bit, vision becomes clear. Has your character been hurt recently?

Gameplay questions / Re: how do i hang a bear skull up?

If I remember correctly throwing the skull at the tree works as well.
Throwing works, but it's a disrespectful way to please bear spirit...

Agreed. Never found a masterwork broad knife, and only once or maybe twice found a small one.

Off-topic / The beauty of winter in your land. Sharing photos
« on: February 06, 2021, 05:56:17 PM »
For the last few days, I truly crave for taking a long long walk to some area untouched by man, where only silence, wind, and snow crunching beneath the feet is possible to hear, and for setting a campfire and sitting by it, with no thoughts, just watching the world exist...

But there's still zero snow in my part of the country, and so no least desire to go outside. At least I can enjoy photos my friends take, and hope you'll like them too. These are from outskirts of Moscow.

Spoiler: show

And how does winter of yours look, adventurers?

Didn't pay atention, but now going to make records too. It will be curious to find out exactly is there any difference in catching that depend on traps type.

Modding / Re: Adding Custom Music?
« on: February 06, 2021, 03:56:50 PM »
may or may not be necessary.

Supposed that sounds' filenames are hardcoded, replacing seems the easiest way. Once again, I'm no great programmer, so probably I don't know best. Just sharing ideas.

Modding / Re: Adding Custom Music?

I suppose @Karmatose you mean music played when different game screens are active (the ones where music plays by design, like rituals screen) or events happen?

As of first case, I see an idea of some audio replacer that watches what game screen is active at the moment and replaces default audio files with ones from user-selected pool when it's possible. Say, each time you're back to the wilderness map or zoom in/out, the program overwrites default audio/ritual.ogg with one of /third-party audio replacer/audio/random_ritual_%number%.ogg, so the next time you hit F4, you hear different theme.

As of event-related music, I guess it's possible for the same audio replacer to watch msglog.txt (afaik the game updates it in real-time) for specific lines (like start of a battle), and when one of that lines appears, to play corresponding theme (however it will probably require extra programming effort to avoid conflicts with the first case).

Unfortunately, I'm waaay far from being skilled enough to code something like this by myself. But if someone could write this piece of software, that would be sure awesome. @Night, what do you think?

Laughing like hell. The dude probably thought,  ‘Damn that, I'm tired to be the only one watching slaves and getting stabbed all the time.’

Who knows, maybe he even decided to spend a couple weeks in the forest working on ‘Cancel Slavery’ manifesto.

@Karmatose your journals look really great. What software do you use to draw, btw?

I cant seem to get this to work on Linux.

At the time being you can use Wine to run Windows apps (any .exe) on Linux.

Off-topic / Streaming UnReal World. Any advice and suggestions?
« on: February 06, 2021, 08:14:53 AM »
Hi there, adventurers! Really glad to be finally back and see you all again.

After a couple pretty hard months I've happened to have a plenty of time free from duties, and there had been already  thoughts on trying to stream stuff the last year... so recently I've finally started a channel and now going to give it a try. Not to become a pro streamer, just for fun (and, in a way, for the sake of self-therapy).

I do know UrW is not quite a game to livestream, like it's been said in YouTube content thread, and my case is gonna be even worse because of poor English and pretty low PC setup, haha. Yet, I suppose there are people who like it exactly the way it is, slow and calm and amateur.

Nevertheless, would be great to hear your thoughts guys on how to make letsplaying UrW better. Should I stick to challenges? Look for some appropriate relaxing soundtrack? Play funny or as hardcore as possible?

Hope @jonottawa is still here, maybe you can share experience you've got after making so many videos about UrW.

I finally finished the grand "Inn" for my elaborate trading post / outpost.

Wow, looks great!

I'm trying to build a village (a creepy ghost village with no one living there, granted...)

Pal, you've really got a spirit. I'm recalling how long it has taken to build just a single big house for my character, and I feel proud of you.

Mod Releases / Re: [3.63] URWSSSelector v1.0.1
« on: February 04, 2021, 11:53:25 PM »
I took a look at it briefly after reading your post. Seems like it would work, but not something I want to invest a serious amount of time in currently, as I'd have to translate a lot of my work/learn the language before getting a decent foundation built. It's a good idea though for compatibility sake.

Is the mod written in C#? As far as I recall, there's MonoDevelop that is cross-platform, just like Lazarus, but is exactly for C#. Never used it myself, though, (got zero knowledge of C*, hehe), so can't say for sure is it good IDE or not.

Hi there!

Is sprites server down? I keep getting an error when trying to update. Also, is the mod still being developed?
