Gameplay questions / Re: Where the heck are the axes?
« on: September 26, 2018, 06:53:24 PM »
It might depend upon whom you are asking. Look for the woodsmen in the villages, eh? Based solely upon my limited experience, hunters and woodsmen carry the tools of their trade, though I have not seen them with anything better than Fine equipment. The Driik villages have the nice stuff, usually laying around in their shops. I even saw a 'Beautiful Pot' today...heh.

I agree that the Njerks are good donors. However, though I've beaten a lot of them, just 1v1, I've lost some really promising characters that way. But, if you win a few fights, you'll have  a lot of trade goods!

Having found the hunter's camp and retrieved the woodsman's axe (which I don't even have!), I was honorable and gave him his father's axe. His reward to me was training in Stealth. However, I see no increase in my stealth statistic.

The hunter said when I NEXT use stealth I should notice improvement. Will that skill number be increased?

I've had one quest where I found a blood trail of about 5 spatters at the border area but no nearby camp. Indeed, I found ANOTHER group of blood tails a fair walk into the woods and THAT was where the camp and loot was found. Usually I've been able to find it only a few steps into the woods.

Today, I found bear tracks, but no blood trail, heading SE, away from the woods that the camp was supposed to be found in. I went NW..heh. Followed bear tracks a while and found nothing. So, I trekked farther north on the border and a fair walk up I found more bear tracks going INTO the right woods area. Found the camp after following those tracks in.

Also today, I died when I found a bear at the right area and aggroed from a good distance (at the end, either of us could have died first. Bear had more luck). A curious thing I noticed during the fight was the battle commentary said 'Bear calms down'. It didn't stop fighting so the point was moot, eh? lol

The gap is there because there is no wall on that tile. I walked your character onto the tile. Thus, you need to get yourself another 6 logs to plug that hole. The wall section to the south of the hole looks like it partially covers the hole, but is actually located on the tile to the south of it.

OOO! That's bizarre. Ok, while I'm putting it back together (I'm ALMOST half done..heh) I'll do what you've laid out. That's a peculiar bug, which I made a report on.

Thank you for your personal effort and interest!

When I go to weapon creation I find that the two arrow types have the required components list reversed. Thus, I had to choose 'Arrow' which had the Blunt arrow ingredients. Alas, after I used blunt arrow material, I still only got regular arrows.

After building the wood structure I found I could not smoke meat. I get a message saying my building is not complete. Upon inspection I noticed there is a gap between the NE corner and the east wall. I REBUILT the structure and noticed that the NW corner is longer than the NE corner, hence there is a visible gap on the east side.

I started dismantling the building and moved it a bit. I noticed that when I built the NW corner and the NE corner, the NE corner is SHORTER. When I put up a E wall, there was, again, a gap. Very disappointing! I don't think I can play the game with this problem.

There is a GAP between the east corner and the first east wall. I rebuilt both and the gap is still there. Meanwhile, almost 300 elk cuts spoiled and I forgot two furs before the last tanning step, now rotted.

I think, Heaven forbid, that I'll have to de-construct the whole building, except for the cellar, which I'll keep for the time being. I suppose I must move to another site slightly away. Maybe there's a map glitch? ahhh, I recall that there WAS a tree in line to the wall there when I built those sections. I used it to tie my dog. But, the gap is on the other end of the wall section from where the tree was. Hmm, I'm grasping at straws here.

This is a disaster...

Hmm, I'll double-check the floor next to the south walls. Maybe I can't see something I overlooked there. Thanks, all!

General Discussion / Re: Some new player's feedback
« on: September 16, 2018, 11:17:23 AM »
My most annoying death so far was with a rather successful guy a few weeks in. I'd acquired some quality goods, had 3 bears and a few elk drying when, as I was traversing some forest I got a message saying I'd run into wolves. My only option was to go to the wilderness map and, BAM, there were several right next to me! One of them hit me immediately, inflicting some awful crippling wound that put me down. Worse, I was unable to stand.

Yeah, I know. Wolves are bad news. There was just no options for me because they were right next to me. Sad..heh

It's summer. I've built a 3x4 wooden building with a fireplace. I've made a fire and have all the necessaries for smoking meat but when I try it tells me I DON'T have a heated room. I've tried using varying amounts of branches. Must I use firewood?
