Suggestions / Camouflage and hunting platforms

Let's make hunting more in-depth.

1) camouflagE
Let's have camouflage attire for winter and summer. Summer's attire would consist of spruce twigs joined to the overcoat or coat.
Winter's would be white coloured fur.
With camouflage, if you don't move, the animal won't notice you so easily and may move very close to your actual position.

2) hunting platforms
We should be able to build hunting platforms on the trees where animals pass by frequently. We hide on the platforms and the animals can't detect it so easily. When the animals come close, we can shoot them from an elevated position, thus ensuring a greater chance to land a critical shot.

Suggestions / Live bait for tricky predators

Currently, foxes and lynxes and other similar predators are quite elusive and hard to trap.

Can we please have the option to capture birds and hares alive? That way, we can use live animals as the bait.

I'm sure the terrified whimpers/chirps of frightened live prey would be an almost irresistable lure to cunning predators. Using live bait would increase the chances of catching such predators, and it's more realistic. However, we would need enough food to keep the prey alive for a week or so.

We can also have the option of live bait for more aggressive animals like bears and wolves. Should make the game more exciting.

Does anyone know if iron age Finnish used falcons/owls/kites as hunting assistants?

It would be so helpful to have them spot lynxes and foxes, as these animals are quite elusive.

Can we recruit our own band of robbers permanently? I want to role play a robber baron...

Currently you can try shooting up a whole pack of foreign raiders that have minimal archers if you have a bow god, but its no fun after a while. I want to lay in ambush for the foreign traders, then wave my scimitar and scream at my gang of cutthroats, "off with their heads, bois!"

Gameplay questions / Do bears, wolves etc have a lair that they return to?

Do the animals just roam around randomly? Surely they have a nest/lair that they return to?

I know bears can be found in caves in winter, but how about wolves, for instance? I have never come across a wolf den...

I'm just thinking that as a hunter, I would get rid of any competition. If I see wolves, I want to track them to the lair and exterminate the whole pack.

Why would whistling arrows force waterfowl to land?  ???
When a loud noise scares birds, don't they all immediately fly off in a huge flock?

1) Are fishing rods in iron age historically accurate? What kind of string did they use? Would visible string still result in successful enticement of fish?

2) why issit bait is not req to catch fish when using fishing rod?

3) using nets w/o bait shld result in lower yields...

4) using branches and twigs, we shld be able to make primitive coned shaped fish traps. This is a simple low cost way to do passive fishing, should make it easier to survive the early game. Its relatively straightforward and only req hands to weave. Of course, bait such as berries must be used.

Can we have different breeds of dogs?

1) Shepherds for sheep and cows
2) large bear hunters that take down bears and wolves
3) Scent hounds/running hounds to flush out fast running prey

Their combat aggresion, running speed, guard abilities would all be different. We would need to get diff dogs for diff jobs, but we would ensure that we get the best possible results possible.

When I hunt bears, I want a 30 inch tank who can go muzzle to muzzle with that ursa and have a high chance of surviving. Of course this tank would be high maintenance and have an insatiable appetite, which is to be expected. He wouldn't be a long distance runner, and thus fail to chase elks and reindeer. He is too aggressive to take care of sheep and cows, and may even eat them.

Then when I hunt reindeer, I want a running hound who can match their speed, and almost always catches up to them. However, he is atrocious at combat, cos such dogs are usually too thin and not aggressive enough.

More complexity for man's best friend. Thank you.

If the terrain is open mire or pine mire, it should be impossible to lose track of large animals like reindeer or elk?

If the tracks criss cross, I just search in a "Z" pattern in the last general direction while zoomed out and eventually I regain the tracks or I run into the animal again

I was trying to burn down the forest when it started raining. Granted it was light rain but to my surprise the fires still spread to adjacent tiles successfully.

Shouldn't the rain suppress the fires and stop them spreading?

Currently we can build traps to capture wolves and bears. And what do we do with them? Target practice or hideworking practice.

What if:
1. we build cages
2. knock the wolves or bears unconscious, stuff them inside the cages
3. Starve them
4. Transport the cages to just outside njerpez village
5. Build fire between the cages and ourselves
6. Open the cages
7. Eat UrW popcorn and enjoy UrW gladiator

So just dehair once after cleaning skin. The rest of the steps are the same.

I consider this matter closed.

Atm, leather is used for armour, skins for water (can't carry bowls of water for travelling), leather ropes, and very specific tools that u normally only make one copy of.

If kaumo and owl differ greatly in size, why do they wear clothes of the same weight and size?

There should be an option to 'readjust' large clothes for small and medium built players. Not only do small players wear 'poorly fitted' clothes, their encumburance level is higher becos they are wearing heavy giant clothes. Not fair?
