General Discussion / Re: Killed my first doe.
« on: July 01, 2020, 10:46:54 PM »
I remember my first several playthroughs, starving all the time first kill was really something I had to work for.

Advice for you: When hunting try to injure animal first, it MUCH easier.

That is some cool idea Tinker,  I was wondering how fun would it be to have a kind of hermit style game, you gave me some new insights.

I was thinking about going later for combat-oriented play, as tribesmen bordering Nerps, invading their territory looting and gathering crew of several people for that kind of work, setting some raiding camps, guard dogs, elks for loot etc.

To bad, you can't really take someone as Slave

Wait, can I sacrifice more than on meat or any other item at the time? When I try to do it I immediately got the uneasy message....

So considering that roleplaying is always more fun way to play games such as these one, I was wondering what are you guys doing when roleplaying?

Heres the few ideas from me, When I smoke meat in some village I always leave part of meat as payment for giving me access to their fireplace, I like also befriending some village give them gifts, trade etc. When I sacrifice I try to find some nice place to do it, No hunting or sparing of Calfs, Respecting the prey- I try not to just throw the meat I consider all life precious so If I can't smoke it, trade it, I gift it, And in general when I play I try to give meaning to my character life and things he does, so not just random walking, hunting just for sake of it.

Also, the starting scenario is taken into account, culture etc.

Bug reports / Hides used for Kota walls
« on: June 26, 2020, 12:50:54 PM »
Its first time I am building it so maybe I got something wrong.

I noticed that when I started building Kota that for the wall I could use both 10lbs and 20-22-24lbs amount of hides, result would stay the same wall is finished, so I was wondering what is the point of that. And yea when I deconstruct wall I would always get 10lbs amount of hiding.

Version is 3.6.1

Yea that's why I got bit confused, why would there be 1-title Kota if I cant really survive in it during winter.

Guess that few more innocent animals will have to die.

Yea Kota seems expensive considering how much hides I could sell and take some nice tool, but since I am Owl lets roleplay a bit :D

Thank you guys for answers.

Well, the thing is that I cant go in other directions laying down or not anyway, so I am not sure if I build it wrong or something..

Gameplay questions / Kota

So I have finished my first Kota, but when I enter inside I was surprised to see that I can use only one part of it, as I was expecting that I can lay down using U and go to other corners in that position.

So my question is will it be enough to keep me warm for winter, as I can stay only in central part of it and not really sure where can I start a fire to keep me warm since central part will be occupied by me and I can't really start a fire in doorway of Kota, by the way, its made from fur.

Solved'n'fixed bug reports / [Fixed - persists in 3.61] Skinning
« on: June 21, 2020, 12:29:46 AM »
I killed Elk and started skinning it, I was extremely tired and soon dropped to the ground, soo I had partly skinned Elk, and I decided to go to sleep. When I wake up Elk was totally skinned so only red corpse was left with no skin for me.

Interesting that I woke up to the noise of something moving, Bug or no it was a bit creepy to think that someone or something skinned my prey while I was asleep

Gameplay questions / Re: Masterwork Northern bow or Longbow
« on: June 20, 2020, 04:55:47 PM »
I went for the longbow, since I use bow for hunting first strike is the most important one so I can chase down prey fast.

About northern one well I have two now don't really understand reason why they are more expensive but I will use them for trading one day. Plus 1 lb of weight doesn't mean much to me If I have wounded animal.

Gameplay questions / Masterwork Northern bow or Longbow
« on: June 20, 2020, 11:16:05 AM »
I see some old discussions on forums about these two and I am still not sure what to chose, I have now Masterwork Northern one and have just found traders with longbow, so I was wondering which should I keep. Any advice on these two?

And my character is master with bow.

Gameplay questions / Re: Companians and Rituals

Thanks for answers.

Yeaa companion thing seems like not much at least in my case, I like to wander alone hunt, trade and build my Kota.

The only benefit I could have is protection but I have my dogs for that or when one day I decide to hunt bear for first time.

I was thinking about a session where I would form a band of warriors and go some raiding that would be cool.

Playing the game for some time now and I was wondering two things, What is the benefit of having companion other from being safer during combat?

And the second one is how to I learn new rituals, from what I could see I need that Unity with nature message, I always make sacrifice but only got at ease and satisfied message nothing more, and do I need some friendly relation with the village?
