A fun goal that I rarely see mentioned is to try and hunt every single animal in game and acquire at least a decent pelt from it.  :)

Loved looking at these, thank you so much  :) No wonder the game is so good with life inspiration so thick all around you

Bug reports / Re: Beaver family frozen at water's edge

Can confim I've had this happen as well. Beavers path straight to water and get stuck on steep descents.

Suggestions / Re: Footwraps needed

Definitely seconding this. The footwraps are described as simple triangles of cloth- no reason a character able to make a shirt out of bear hide shouldn't be able to make them.

Maybe even fur socks? I don't know how historically accurate that would be, but I imagine socks fashioned from the hide of squirrels would be pretty comfy  ;D

Development News / Re: Limping and animal size tracking information

Fantastic!

My only fear is pertaining to this:

Moreover, the actual track graphics are also shown smaller or larger depending on
          the creature size.

A small version of an already small animal like a hare or ermine might leave tracks that are impossible to see by the player...

Gameplay questions / Re: Deathrattle!
« on: December 01, 2019, 11:37:15 AM »
I'm pretty sure that birds' deaths cause a death rattle, and that a stack of 5 feathers is a sure sign one died there!

I run across bunches of feathers like that here and there. I found a stack like that several times in my traps.

Yeah, pretty sure these are all remains of dead birds, or empty nests.

Triggered traps? Then it probably caught a bird which was then eaten by a predator before you could collect it.

Gameplay questions / Re: Clothing Protection (after 3.60 update)

The solution to the cold problem could be to make footrags craftable. I mean, cutting out a piece of fabric to just wrap around your feet should certainly be easier than making a shirt out of hide, never even mind leather boots.

Perhaps even socks? If only there was a way to differentiate between the fur of small animals and big animals; bear skin is probably too thick to work as socks, but I can imagine squirrel or hare hide socks being pretty comfy.

Seconding the crossbow suggestion especially, that was something I was thinking about suggesting as well! The advantage of a crossbow in real life is that you can carry it loaded... I think you should still need the second hand free to reload, though. This should be just for a quick first shot.

Your other suggestions are great as well :)

Gameplay questions / Re: Wearing a bandage.

I think it's a longstanding bug/oversight. I took off everything once then wore a bandage to see if it had any coverage, and it does not.

What kind of trap is that? How did you set it in the water?

I edited the arrow graphics to have the same marking circle as traps for easier recovery. I was getting tired of spending hours squinting at every tree after a hunt.

Gameplay questions / Re: stealing questions
« on: September 18, 2019, 11:12:51 AM »
What I did was pile up stuff I wanted to steal in a house further away from the rest. I don't know if villagers are fine with you dropping stuff on the ground, but if so, piling it up right next to the village border would help. That way you might hope they won't hang around watching you like they do when they know you have their stuff. Drop all your excess things elsewhere to minimize penalties.

Now, you can either try to sneak in, grab the stuff, and get away unnoticed, or grab it and run. Either way it's best done deep in the night.

If they notice you, you will be chased, and if they catch you, they will initiate the 'you have to pay for those goods now' dialogue. You can just hand their stuff back to them then for only a minor hit to relationship.

Best way by far of robbing villages blind is if they're right next to water. They can't chase you on a punt.

I don't know how long they stay mad, but I do know that all the other villages in the region won't talk to you either for a time.

The 'taken' marker goes away after a while, yes - I didn't count, but it was definitely over a week.

I guess I just got my answer.

I ask because I had peppered both with arrows only for them to disappear without a trace. If they died while in the diving state, would the corpse not appear on the surface?

Off-topic / Inspired by URW, I bought for my dog...
« on: September 06, 2019, 04:56:44 PM »
...canned food made of reindeer and of elk, to eat like his in-game namesake  :D

The reindeer smelled like any other dog food, but the elk was SO gamey that my family complained. The dog absolutely loved it, though.

Now if only I can find canned bear for him to try  ;D
