I've noticed that wandering Njerp' spawns seem to not have any relation to nearby war camps (i.e. you can have loads of spawned war camps but wanderers don't seem to increase). This makes me curious as to whether destroying their culture entirely, would prevent their spawns. If no one knows, I might do an experiment to find out. ;D

Bug reports / [3.82] "Over the partystack" into freezing water
« on: December 23, 2023, 01:08:45 PM »
I dropped all my items into my punt, an continued my journey. I didn't realize I had had fallen into the freezing water and I died of hypothermia. I think this is a bug because of a previous post that was similar that Sami replied to. Usually when you move in a punt without a paddle, you don't move into the water, no?

Usually you get the

Not bugs / Can still sell infinite boards to villagers?
« on: February 07, 2022, 02:13:48 PM »
I might just create an immersion rule that I can't sell boards to villagers now. Previously I thought I was limited by the number of boards I could pick up up at once which is twenty (I have the max weight Kaumo character of 126kg). But then realized you could just pick them up at 20 boards intervals indefinitely. I then bought 3 bags of salt and a winter lynx fur with 200 odd boards. I saw a previous changelog on the forum that said villagers should only buy the amount of boards they care enough for but I don't think it works.

Saw this thread that is the exact same thing:

https://www.unrealworld.fi/forums/index.php?topic=1974.msg5615#msg5615

Obviously the self-imposed board rule has been around for ages I see but I just thought it was fixed recently.

IMO you shouldn't really be able to sell timbercraft to villagers as it's so laughably easy for them to make themselves. Takes 4 ish hours to make enough for a small building let alone fox traps/doors/paddles.

Oh, lastly, the limit on villagers accepting boards if they already have 8 boards or more still works, if that's what the fix was. This exploit is if they have under 8. Under 8 and they will accept hundreds.

EDIT: I looked at the fixes in news.txt: I can't actually prove that the villagers didn't want 200+ boards, I'm just assuming. If the cap is maybe further up or something I don't know. I haven't tested the fixes for fox traps and meat. Also, I don't think you would ever be able to trade for boards again even for restocked equipment as boards don't seem to go away, although after many years I can't say. It's basically a way to jump to iron armour and expensive trade goods like furs and salt, but eventually you would have to start trading normal stuff. Masterwork tools and bows are doable outside of boards, with harder earned bowls or fox traps, and I'm not really suggesting that shouldn't be allowed as that's a lot more effort. I just feel like I cheated a bit to get a spectacle helm.

Not bugs / Knife lost during fall in ice
« on: January 14, 2022, 04:23:14 PM »
Not sure if this is a bug or not, but checked the message logs and saw I dropped all my gear when I was drowning after the fall to help me climb up, and am 100% the broad knife disappeared after it was dropped. 3 javelins floated, and I'm not sure about elk cuts but 242 remain which should be right for a big elk. Just wondering if items can disappear in this way or if it's a bug. Makes logical sense for a knife to sink but I've seen that to throw garbage away you have to throw it in water not push it.

I'm a new player so sorry if it's a dumb question but I've never drowned seriously before and never dropped stuff in water.

Gameplay questions / Land North of Njerpez??
« on: January 08, 2022, 09:56:13 PM »
After combing dozens of old threads, one thing I've never seen mentioned specifically is the barren wasteland North of the Njerpez. I'm new to the game and looking specifically to specialize in active hunting, and saw the advice that the more N/NE the more large animals there are.

I decided to settle on the Kuikka river, but have been surprised to see that there is a significant absence of large predators. I've played since winter start and 1st Harvest month is coming to end, and have only encountered 1 bear just recently. I've heard a wolf pack in the Midwest and saw my only lynx in the far north of the area in the title when I was scouting the NE coast for a river. This has got me interested in what the hunting is like there. Perhaps the No Mans' Land around Seal-tribe is actually quite barren for hunting mammals? There a lot of elk and reindeer around this current spot, though, so perhaps I'm just experiencing the annual differences in migrations. Although, the Kaumo culture description mentions big game hunting. Maybe being east is just as important and being north? Or maybe animal pops are just random everywhere and it was just and old wives tale.
