Gameplay questions / How to heat a building?

Character sleeps inside small building with 6 firewood burning in fireplace.
It is early seedtime. But he always wakes up shivering from cold.

Even at winter spring he could sleep inside the shelter.
What happened with heating building mechanics?
Did forest spirits rose prices for heating apartments?
It seems cheaper to sleep outside.

He wears only rough linen trousers, rough woolen tunic, fur mittens, fur footwear.
No furs on bunk. But building does not keep warmth.

What is the message to look at msglog.txt?

I decided to stay near settlement during first winter and forgot about item limit.
This settlement is very close to another one.
Now Items started to disappear despite it is only beginning of the game.
Can hare eat yarn?

Does the help from a companion worth the food he eats?
Do you use them for home tasks or only for raids?

For example if you failing trees companion reduces only 10-15% of the work.
It means only 1 additional tree in 8-10.

But you will need more kills - so it will be harder to please the spirits.
Also less food for trading.

Gameplay questions / Bird thief quest - do I search for a right tiles?

I built a Shelter in the center of an area and made a map with coordinates  South North West Est and steps 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8. Marked all matching locations and checked them with climbing a tree.
However with no luck. I guess feathers and traps are behind the trees.

The trapping site is - at border location of coniferous forest area next to heathland in the South.

So I need to check _only_ coniferous forest tiles, which has border with heathland in the South?
Right?

I wonder if quest items are generated before character enters zoomed location. I did savegame reload few time because got injured during climbing.

Do animals like birds and hares need to step on the section to steal meat and berries or they can steal from connected section?

From this perspective.
Is it enough to put one trap on the cellar?
Or it is better to put more on connected sections?

Always associated spear with primitive weapon and sword with more advanced.
However newer doesn't always means better.

Breaked both hips by accidentally jumping in trap. Now crumbling in search of sage.

Gameplay questions / Keep live stag or deer inside fence

What if after I catch a stag in a trap pit you build e fence around and release it from the trap?
In a case it has only small injury it can recover and live here.
Or it can jump out from a fence or die from starvation. I wonder what will happen.

Can I catch live wild animal and keep it?

Are there some specific region or culture territory where stonecrop grows?
Need to find 60 stonecrop leaves. But for 5 days I didn`t find any. I search on mountains in Driik and Islander regions.

With planned approach you can lure Njerp in woods cripple his leg and kill far away from camp. So you can win battle with crude staff.
But even best sword cant help you if you run strait to enemies.

I like how combat mechanics is made.
And want to understand more.

When defense bonus is used, with blocking or with parrying?

How to effectively disarm opponent? With blocking, parrying, or just hitting arms? Does the defense bonus plays role on successful disarm?
Does the type of damage (blunt), or some weapons are better for disarming or hitting some body parts?

Gameplay questions / Best way to the kill trapped animal to preserve the skin.

I read some topics but still there is no complete information.

Seems club is the best weapon for killing animal and not damaging the skin.
But clubs are bad at fighting and investing in clubs seems has no other purpose.
Are there other methods?

Staff is another light and wooden weapon. Can you use it instead of a club with equal result?

Some player mentioned shooting with broad head arrow and waiting to bleed.
Leaving animal until night and finishing in the sleep.
Waiting until it dies in a trap.

There is also hunting knife. It suppose to help kill an animal with minimal damage to the skin, but I couldn`t find information on how good it works.

Which methods have you try and which you prefer?

Gameplay questions / Javeline and eyesight

My character has 96 in spear skills.
But he has medium eyesight.
He cant hit any target with javelin from distance 8-14 tiles.

Is this because of medium eyesight. Or javelins are suppose to hit from closer range?

Also if I have a spear in secondary hand does ti affect accuracy with javelin?

Just built a fence to block passage of animals. But I dont know if they actually do this in game.
