General Discussion / Re: Question on Prices?
« on: March 06, 2024, 04:00:40 PM »
I know I am answering two months too late but this data sheet is more or less up to date. I can't remember who made it, sorry about that.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1cAIq93GxJUGIH6CKfOX-y_MZw7gLKZjg1t7oIsxKnH8

The price for nets isn't 144 anymore, but the rest appear accurate.

Solved'n'fixed bug reports / Re: 3.80 Punt quest very messy
« on: September 03, 2023, 12:50:24 AM »
Ran into an issue with this quest as well. Waited the right amount of time for the punt to be finished, but the craftsman returned the dialogue blacksmiths do once too much time has passed.

I picked up the punt and turned it in and the quest was completed, but still incurred a reputation penalty (as the dialogue with the villagers changed to reflect a lower one).

Suggestions / Switch keyboard shortcuts
« on: May 06, 2022, 10:13:40 PM »
This could be something that only affects me and not people with different keyboard layouts, so let me know if it isn't the case.

Despite having logged about two thousand hours in game, I find myself imputing wrong commands from time to time.

Two of these are very bothersome. Waiting instead of zooming out and Sleeping instead of Switching weapons.

In the first case, pressing "-" without holding "CTRL" results in the player character losing animals that are being tracked.

Most recently, I tried switching weapons on a road only to have the character fall asleep instead, waking up to "You hear silent voices from the shadows, and notice your limbs are aching a lot". (Which might come across as a reference to rape to some people.)

This last interaction might very well mean death on a fight. I believe it could be solved by adding a warning before the action is carried forward, similar to trying to walk into water or on thin ice.

General Discussion / Re: How to complete "Adventurer's (Item)" Quest?
« on: April 26, 2022, 09:50:57 AM »
You've probably already completed or canceled the quest, but for future reference make sure to mark the tiles you've already explored. F6, then Shift A, then add a small note. This will help you easily identify the matching areas should you go through all of them and not find the shelter on a first sweep.

Gameplay questions / What do you use your leather for these days?
« on: November 29, 2021, 07:20:05 AM »
No longer consumed during food smoking or used for arrow crafting, leather cords have lost the irreplaceable role they once had.

So what do you use yours for? Armor crafting? Grainflails? Short bows? Do you keep converting it to cords for smoking, out of force of habit?

General Discussion / Re: help with hunting and trapping
« on: November 28, 2021, 08:37:16 PM »
Are you trying to survive solely on trapping and hunting? There are many goods your characters can trade for food: boards, birch bark rope, wooden cups and bowls, paddles. The "chores" starting quest should be used exclusively to trade for roasted food (or a small knife to make rope with).

I would place 4-6 lever traps on each single overmap tile and check them daily at most. Set them on top of bushes if they already spawned. Mountains and hills are also a good site to trap birds. But traps alone won't generate prey. You have to place them somewhere with animals or wait until they spawn there.

Trap fences are good for natural choke points, such as spruce forests or isthmuses.

Disappearing animals on the overmap are a common occurrence, those are the ones you set a baited trap for. Make a note of where you saw them, search the place for tracks (using the zoomed in map) and set the trap on top of them.

Solved'n'fixed bug reports / Re: Weird timeskip to day 499
« on: November 03, 2021, 10:59:47 PM »
I have managed to replicate the overflow on a completely different computer, no modding there either. This time, it happened on the first day.

This rules out my syslocale issues having anything to do with the time skip.

I also managed to replicate the behaviour where URW will launch but not appear on screen, needing to be maximized manually from the task bar to show up.

Perhaps this last one is related to screen resolution, although I am not sure if the time skip and it have anything to do with each other.

I added the latest save to the google drive folder (SATU folder) but I don't expect it to be any different from the other two.

I will try to replicate the issue on 3.70 beta and update with any findings.

Gameplay questions / Re: Angry villagers
« on: November 02, 2021, 10:07:55 PM »
Wow, it didn't occur to me this could happen. Were they willing to talk, you could gift them items by using the Deliver an item talk option. Since they won't talk to you, there isn't any way to make them forgive you on the short term I am afraid.

If it is still late winter, peel some bark from birch trees and weave it into birch bark rope.  Quality isn't important. Then use that rope to make a raft and try other islands, or maybe go to the Driik. Their villages have everything there is aside from cultural items.

You'll need a paddle too so I hope you still have an axe.

Solved'n'fixed bug reports / Re: Weird timeskip to day 499
« on: November 02, 2021, 04:20:22 PM »
Yes, both characters are between 20-30 days old.

I forgot to mention the game still says they are 16 winters old.

Spoiler: show

No mods ever installed. This bug happened upon safely quitting and reloading in all instances.

I've been having some issues with my system locale recently, as well as one where I have to manually maximize the game window for it to be visible. I didn't think it was related but if this behavior hasn't been reported before then it might very well be.

I will try to replicate it on a different computer to make sure this overflow isn't related to those and update the post with the results.

Thanks for taking a look

Solved'n'fixed bug reports / Weird timeskip to day 499
« on: November 02, 2021, 02:09:40 PM »
I've had this issue three times actually. I load a character around the 20+ day mark and it's adventuring days are set exactly to 499.

I deleted the first character it happened to, assuming it was a bug since it was ported to version 3.70, but it happened again.

I also noticed it is not a visual glitch, since the seeds I planted the day before were now fully grown.

Spoiler: show

OS is Windows 10, version 20H2,  build 19042.1288

Here is a Google Drive link with 2 saves with the issue.

EINARI contains the character with the crops, and JARL a character ported from a previous version.

Solved'n'fixed bug reports / Re: "Savegame needs a remedy" after BSOD
« on: November 01, 2021, 03:17:52 PM »
That's really curious, I usually quit the game by using CTRL + S which displays a very quick message in blue in the log.

My OS is Windows 10, version 20H2,  build 19042.1288

Anyways, the character was very recent so I didn't lose a lot, thank you for taking a look.

I had the same issue on 3.70

I think I quit the game after the character had been saved, once the main menu had appeared

Previous forum posts indicate that Fine quality weapons give a +1 increase to the damage aspects of any weapon. Similarly, masterwork quality seems to grant a +10% skill increase to the character.

Assuming a character's skill to be 100. Would that bonus still apply? In the event that it didn't take skills beyond 100, and a character was encumbered or injured, would it apply before of after said penalties?

Example: Character with 100 axe skill, using a masterwork battleaxe and suffering from 3% encumbrance and 2% injury.
Is their final axe skill 95%, 100% or 105%?

Thanks

Gameplay questions / Re: Forest Maidens
« on: May 09, 2020, 01:48:20 AM »
I don't feel like it is important enough to trouble Sami over. It's just unfortunate that the game chose that specific NPC (Bird thief) as part of the Forest Maiden quest. All I'd like to know is weather the maidens can be met without talking to him.

Having said that here is my save on Google Drive. My character is on a spruce mire, with moss covered ground on the floor, 7 spruce twigs on his inventory and some chopped wood nearby. There is a raft southeast if you'd like to try somewhere else.
