Or create a completely empty world where you’re the only person alive and do a full self-sufficiency game  :) hermit style

This sounds awesome :D

Re: Farming in iron age Finland Spoke too soon.. the "commonness" and "frequency" are not set at all for the cultivated plants. I can only maybe tweak the number of plants per square (eg, you can as many as 25 barley and rye plants in one spot).

Re: Probably the stupidest thing I’ve done in game. I had at one point a stash of cured furs, and since it was the start of winter I decided to work on them all at the same time.. I forgot how long it takes and how tired it makes you.. Basically 4 reindeer and 2 elk furs have gone to waste :(

February life Hey good people and fellow adventurers,

time for a little february life update as I've seemed to be semi-absent for awhile. What went down is that I took some time to travel to Norway to meet some friends,
came back and discovered the beauty of february winter snow blankets and increasing sunglight,
equipped my new cross-country skis and had a blast with them in the woods for days,
then developed a nasty flu -- and now recovering from all that.
Because of all this I've been very slow on e-mail as well, but as the week goes on I'll be replying at least to the urgent stuff.

On coding front I'd like to fix just a little more and then release 3.50 stable while the winter still continues - cause now I've got probably the greatest skis I've ever owned.

These are Taiga cross-country/hunting skis of russian origin. The proportions comes close to the great ancestral skis of ancient Finns - and many other ugric / north eurasian peoples.
They are naturally all wooden, and after this picture was taken a decent layer of pine tar has been put on the underside, and ties attached.

Re: February life Being that my ancestry is primarily Norwegian and I love the snow although we rarely get it here in California (asides from in the mountains) I am somewhat envious of your location :P

Nice cabin!

Re: What's Going On In Your Unreal World? Just caught 2 bears within 1 week in the early spring. Now I got 48lbs of bear fur, 350+ cut of dried meat. Never felt better than this..

Pulled off a victorious There be Robbers! start for the first time this version, quite happy to be bathed in riches, and on my own little island no less.

Hello!

The first, i want to say URW is the best game i was ever played :)
Thanks for development.

it would be cool it was possible to plant trees. What do You think about this in next update? :)

Thanks for the compilemt, masif.
I don't feel tree planting really suiting the nature of the game, it feels something more modern in the world where trees are scarce.
Also, a planted tree would practically never grow big enough to be used for example as a good construction log during a lifetime of a character.

Re: Probably the stupidest thing I’ve done in game.
Sympathies for your poor dog.  I have had the same sort of thing happen to me while I was trying to finish off an unconscious bear.  I cracked my dog over the head with the blunt (thankfully) end of the spear and fractured his skull.  It was nearly a disaster because he turned on me and tried to savage me.  Luckily he calmed down after I dodged.

In the future I think I'll be tying my dogs up when I close in for a killing blow on a down opponent.
You only need to tie up your dogs with predators or when you keep them starving. In the first case they'll attack the predator (harming the skin, but possibly preserving yours), while in the second they will eat a fresh kill (again harming the skin).

I drowned trying to crawl back on the ice over and over while having a punt in my inventory...
I don't think the punt would actually help, but shedding weight from the inventory surely does. And once you manage to get up onto the ice you may be able to get into the punt to smash yourself to the shore (but crawling, abandoning the punt, might be better, as it's probably faster, and you need to get a warming fire going soon, unless your character has really warm clothing (which, again, contributes to your encumbrance, so it might help once you actually get out of the water, but it will hinder you from actually getting out...).
