Re: I want to nap rather than sleep + pets on the same tile That and it's always been a little bit of a pet peeves of mine the degree to which vigor and the need to sleep are linked. Hard work can help you sleep deep but never have been like oh I've baled so much hay today I simply can not stay awake and fallen asleep before my regular bed time, and on the other side there have been plenty of time where I've done no strenuous activity and I still can go to sleep at the same time as normal and sleep as long as normal

Re: If I plan to create a new character to survive in an old world, what should I do
Hey, after your question I tried copying and pasting the world files from my active character(Not dead ones because I don't think you can restore the world files from them.). I copied the WORLD.BAK , WORLD.DAT and WORLD.PLM files. Created a new character, then copied these 3 files into the (\UnRealWorld\Your newly created character name here). You also keep your starting scenario, and if you want to also copy the weather over, I think you also should copy the WEATHER.DAT file to your newly created character.

edit: I forgot to mention, your character also keeps his/her original spawning location as far as I tested so you may encounter a problem that you might spawn in deep water when you copy the world files.

Hope I could help.

Thanks, it is feasible, I have created a new role. My previous role focused on speed and endurance, but he was a blind man(eyesight very low)

Re: Which game update you are looking forward to? I'd love for more quests with better variety to them, the different shades of "find a needle in a haystack" aren't really doing it for me and tend to leave me wanting for more.

Better modding support would also be great. I don't think you can really fully rely on the modding community to make the game for you, but with better tools to control recipes, buildings, and menu arborescence, in both creating new stuff and being able to modify existing features, I know modders would have a field day.

Modding limitations? Hey guys, newbie to modding here. I figured out about the mods for this game and jumped with excitement, before realizing the limitations.

I wanted to know, what is it that stops people from creating their own custom creatures, cultures, in game balance and the like? Is it entirely hidden to the users, and if so what could possibly make it so hidden? Encryption? Are there legal issues with trying to break past this barrier? Is it a request from Sami or Enormous elk?

If it has been explained in the past, please link me to the thread that explains it if you could. Because I love this game.. and as an amateur game dev, I would love to expand upon the modding community :).

Re: [3.63] Incorrect 3D sound positioning Ahhh, thanks, that makes a lot of sense! It's good to know that it's not a bug, even if I don't personally think it's a very wise design choice, since the game has the screen fixed in place and that's the referential people would likely naturally go with.

Re: [Short story] Faster. Oskari the child, curiously ask why I made the big deadfall trap. "To outsmart, not outrun" I said.
Screams, swears and growls exploded behind me, from the center of the village, all of sudden.
I ran, unleashed my hounds, hands on my bow and arrows. Only to find it is too far, no windows to shoot.
Men and women were slaughtered by the beasts, boys and dogs tried hard to save them, only to be overran.
In split of seconds, chaos became silent bloodshed.

I wish I could run faster.

Re: Who were "Njerpez" ? If the game change log said: "Based on historical references it has now been verified that The Novgrod Russians never did thing X, and therefore in this game release The Njerpez also don't do thing X" then all the questions and arguments by user1805 would be highly on-point.

But, at the moment to me it seems that user1805 just slightly misinterpreted what Sami meant to say in the game change log. I believe Sami meant only to say that "It is intended that Njerpez behave in a way X, and it has now been verified that they really do X in the game."

Then, of course we can have another discussion about if Njerpez should behave this or that way based on fully accurate historical facts about Novgorod Russians. But, to me that seems to miss the point. The game doesn't claim to be 100% historically accurate. Many things are simulated based on historical facts, but not all the things need to be so. Especially the tribes, they contain a lot of artistic freedom. Therefore the game creator can say that "in the fantasy world I created the element X behaves in a way Y because I wanted it that way", and I find it hard for anyone else to counter that. Like, can anyone say that "I don't believe you imagined it that way, you need to imagine it some other way!". I always thought that the very essence of imagination is that anyone can imagine the way they do.

Re: Who were "Njerpez" ? Normally, I'd just shrug and move on, but this is just a bit too much. Two men have been doing their damn best for good quarter of a century to develop a great product. That product is a work of fiction and loosely based on historical Finland. Moreover, for those who are slow on the get-go, the world its set in, called UnReal for a reason. So if devs want to make a culture with social graces of certain forum users - they absolutely can. If some historical event gave them inspiration to create that culture, but for some reason someone doesnt like it, or disagrees with what dev did in their own game - tough titty. BTW, Novgorod AND Moskovits were always aggravating everyone around them. At least till Moskovits conquered Novgorod and performed local genocide by killing most of the males novgorodians and mostly only raping females, after that it was only Moskovits. So its a small wonder they were so inspirational for creating this fictional culture. Oh and if you want to learn real history about Moskovia, use Byzantian, Ottoman, Greek or Vatican sources, that version of history modern Moskovia teaches would be funny, if it wouldnt be so damn sad.

P.S. Sorry Erkka, I'll go shut up now.

Re: [3.63 - Steam] Domestic animals fight each others to death Well, the sow had a history of sudden outrage so I would say it might be just the sow gone nuts again. But yeah, it is quite possible they are also territorial, won't hurt to give them more personal spaces. BTW pork stews tastes good, haha

Re: Fish traps? I would'nt necessarily need to redirect water flow to create a permanent fish trap. It would be like a net or a fish trap, but stationary building instead of an item. Kind of how most traps on land currently work. But I suppose it can't be done right now as fishing menu doesn't work with modding.

Here's one example of stationary fish trap built on shallow water. The shape is a bit funny, though, or maybe that's just my imagination :D

http://www.avoinmuseo.fi/kivikaudenkyla/kohde7.shtml

Anyway, would love to see more passive fishing options added to the game at some point, modded or base version. There is already lots of traps on land so might add them for fishing as well.
