Re: Fish traps? Fishing improvements are planned for future versions.

In the meantime I'd guess the best you can do is to mod it the way you've already done. (or maybe even use boards in the recipe, to emulate a liistekatiska). Then just use your modded item the way you'd use a stationary fish trap.

Re: 5 reasons why Unreal World is one of the most original and rewarding games ever, Hehe, silly me!

I tried searching the web with pieces of text taken from Maxwelll's post, looking if it is a direct copy from a reddit post or something. After several searches I found nothing and was puzzled =)

So, I'll leave this here, if for nothing else then to remind me that next time when I suspect a spambot has got through our defences, I should remember to check both our own forums and reddit posts (and other possible sources of copypaste). When this type of spambots arrived, they started with copypasting old forum topics, and the next generation was smart enough to copypaste posts from reddit. Somehow I already forgot that they had this habit of copypasting (slightly modified pieces) or older forum posts.

Re: Which game update you are looking forward to? Actually I am looking forward to see this marriage thing.

Personally I would prefer some settlement foundation update, so you can grow your own village. Hire people from other settlements and maybe the join your village when dont need their direct service anymore.

Some things I would also like to see is, growing your own animals, speak if have a sheep and a ram, there should be a chance every year to get an young sheep/ram.
Getting wool from sheep would be nice aswell.

More craftable basic things in vanilla, without needing to mod the game, is also a thing I really want.
Some easy things like nets, fishing rods, wooden tubs, pot aso. -- anoying that we can get those things only from trades.
Overwork of arrow crafting also needed, stupid to make arrows just from a branch, rock and feathers without any quality. Arrows should be made from shafts, arrowheads and feathers.

Some use for bones beside feeding dogs.

And a tailoring proffession, really missing.
Abillity to tailor nettle and woolen clothes and option to repair it if damaged.

There is so much potential in this game.
Well lets see what will come in future.

Re: Which game update you are looking forward to? I’m waiting for travois/sled/sleigh/cart/wagon update the most. Hopefully it’ll have inventory management for rucksack/stuff sack at the same time.

2nd on my wishlist would be advanced crafting: making all bows, smithing broad heads, reusing broken arrows. Rehafting axes, repairing armor. Smithing axe and spearheads, knife and sword blades. Preferably unlocked via quests and not easy or quick to get unlocked or produce.

3rd would be world generation rework: to include springs, brooks, streams, digging ditches, and the narrowing of roads to more realistic width.

Re: [3.63] "NUMPAD 0" registering as "0" Thanks for the follow-up, trowftd. Very vague issue, especially if the chances for failures accumulate the longer you play. These gotta be be quite rare problems, and theirs origin remains a mystery to me.
I checked SDL2 bugzilla and there's bunch of reports about wrong keys getting registered AND multiple keyboard events getting triggered at once, but these were mostly related to virtual keyboards and exotic keyboard layouts.
However, this still indicates things can go wrong in the ways described. I'm afraid there's not much I can do, but I'll check the code just in case.

Re: [3.63] "NUMPAD 0" registering as "0"
I tried reproducing the bug after I posted the message. I remember this bug from my playtimes but never really bothered to open a topic about it as I thought this was a keyboard issue.

Now as far as my reproducing attemps go, I can't seem to reproduce it really. Maybe the "bug" fixed itself I don't really know. Thanks for checking the code for us though  ;D

Okay, thanks for the follow-up. So this is likely pretty much system/setup/keyboard dependant issue. If it went away for you on its own, that gives some hope for the people who've encountered the issue.

Villagers build new houses and start new settlements JP_Finn's post inspired an idea of villagers building houses over time, maybe once in a year, and up to a certain limit. There might be higher chances for fine and masterwork items to appear in new building. Villages expansion also gives cause to add new quests such as falling some trees and making boards.

Furthermore, villagers could start new settlements, say, once in five years, so as to enhance the impression of tribes actually strengthen and evolve.

Re: Different types of wood
I thought well, I can't really make a strong bow out of pine.
(pushes glasses with index finger) But the best bow in the game is made from pine. lol ;D

Otherwise, I totally agree.

Re: Small predators like ermine, pine-marten and polecat much more common I don't know how common pine-marten or polecat were 1000 years ago. But I think that when it comes to the smallest predators like ermine, it might be that one doesn't see them so often. In wintertime you spot their tracks, but you seldom see the animal.

I'm thinking about this from the coding point of view. Like, if we continue to spawn animals like it is now, but just add a piece of code that when one comes to check small traps after X number of days, in addition to the normal simulation there could be some probability of catching ermine, even if that particular ermine wasn't spawned into the game world like lynx or elk. Something like that could yield the desired outcome - when walking in the woods you seldom see ermine, yet in your well-placed properly-baited small traps you could find ermine more often than in the current version of the game.

The first snow and back from holidays Hey, it's been a good two months without a word here at dev. news section, so it's about time to break the silence,  although you may have spotted my slowly increasing presence at the forums bugs section already.
We had the first snow few days ago, so the summer season is evidently ceasing.
See, I went on summer holidays quite late this year, in august, and thought "it's likely autumn, or early winter, before I get back to development chambers again."
Looks like that the time is at hand now.
Hunting bugs has always been a good way to get oriented back into coding, and I guess focus on that will continue for a good while. But yeah, the endless to-do lists also awaiting for us. So let's continue from here, and see where we get by the end of the year.
