Re: Make Menu only for Modded items = saving BAC and other large mods
Just a quick remark here, I've brought it up many times since the early days of modding capabilities that as a developer I'm more interested to develop the game than a modding engine/script. I think it repeat myself with this at least annually. As we speak the dev. plans list has no more modding goals added, even though impromevents sometimes come along. Even though it would be super great to have super capable modding possibilities to create a world of your own - with quests, scenarios, terrain, rituals, and all that - that's just not going to be the case with UnReal World. There are games that are crazy moddable, with that sort of deliberately chosen path of development from the start, and it's great - but it's also a different path of game development. I've got a different approach here. It's not news. And if the limited moddability is a restriction to roam the unreal world one can always pour their modding energy in the games that allow all their modding desires. There are games like that out there, a plenty of them, and good ones too. Thanks for clarifying, apologies if I'm making you repeat yourself - it's hard to keep up with such a huge project and everything that's being said on the forums over the years. I'm all for respecting dev's vision for their game, so if that's your path then there's nothing else to do or say I guess. I just want you to know that as a player, I speak from a place of appreciation of URW's uniqueness rather than wanting it to be the same as every other generic survival game. It's special, and so I want it to be more moddable from a purely selfish perspective, to experience more of it. I don't have modding desires, I have playing-more-vanilla-adjacent-modded-content desires if you wish. I hope that makes sense. Anyways, I trust your decisions are what's best for the game. So I'll just do what I've been doing for the last couple years and wait for next patches. ![]() August 19, 2024, 10:54:11 PM |

Re: [Fixed - persists in 3.84.2] crawling while skiing
It can be mentioned that one case where you'd definitely want to crawl with skis is when you're trying to recover a large animal who's drowned after going through the thin ice. In that case you want to spread out your weight over as large an area as possible (after having dropped off all excess weight at the shore, optionally with a fire going if you fall through anyway).

Finnish wine review
I recently got hold of a black currant wine that is made in Finland, and I wanted to share what I thought of it. It is delicious, almost tastes like a black currant juice, it has a hint of bitterness from the fermentation that makes it extremely pleasant as it contrasts perfectly with the acidity of the black currant flavor. I had it to share but I ended up drinking half the bottle myself. I was a really happy drunk that evening. 10/10 everyone should try it. October 23, 2024, 06:56:31 PM |

Re: Version 3.85 beta released
I was clumsily making a joke - we're for skins/foreskins ![]() But I would like to back up Palu's point on the problem of having them in villages, I often start in winter in the far north-east and avoid human contact as best I can for at least the first year. There are no rivers up there, so one of my first missions is to set traps for birds for leather for a skin, so I can go more than half a day's travel from my water source without dehydrating. I appreciate there are springs in the game now, but I don't look for them as I doubt they would exist in the far north-east - or at least they should be far less common than in the other regions. Has Unreal World inspired you in one way or another?
For me, I included a Finnish character in my second, work-in-progress sci-fi novel as the Chief Scientist (it's a placeholder title name) in the protagonist space ship and he is very interested in unusual pieces of alien technology, I will also include a Skramasaksi as a "quest reward" for the main character that has a little subtle engraving referencing Unreal World, and finally, I added the Njerpez in the novel as the most organized and dangerous pirate gang in the Milky Way, their background is done and I'll add more details about them as the story develops. At the moment the manuscript is still in its first version and unedited, I hoping to finish it in January next year but I have a lot of work to do, what about you? have you created something inspired by Unreal World? Re: Has Unreal World inspired you in one way or another?
For an assignment in secondary school, I wrote a thousand-word poem about the 2012 Wifecarrying World Championship in a style inspired by the Kalevala (or at least English translations thereof). And some descriptions based on UnReal nature have also made their way into personal projects. The main character in my most recent writing thing is partly descended from Karelian Finns (because Kaumo = cool ![]() November 02, 2024, 12:07:23 AM |

Re: [Fixed - persists in 3.85 Beta] Single shingle in progress
My bad, I always try to pick up the cooking/smoking/drying in progress to check the timer until complete. Habit has carried over to pausable crafting. And yes, “finished” is better than “ready (for picking up)” November 18, 2024, 03:56:37 AM |
