Re: Game course reward I don't know how much of a difference it makes, but I always pick the stats increase because the other two are things i could get on my own with effort. But you are right about the things that don't change as a result of the new stats. Another thing that doesn't change is how much you can carry. It doesn't seem to be based on strength at all; instead it is just 1.5 times your weight.

Re: [3.60 stable linux] path-finding Yeah, water is difficult, but players are likely to build settements by water, so it will come up a lot.

One of my companions in another game drowned after he left me, he was a bit too bold about trying to swim and drowned just a few tiles from the opposite shore; i followed him in on a raft.

I offered to rehire Tobejas and walk him home but he doesn't want to be hired right now.

Re: [Not a bug] I could not find my raft and thought it had despawned If you look in msglog.txt, which is in your character directory, you can look for the last instance of "You go on shore". For my character it looks like: (3C5A98):t7g1:[:]{07CB0730}      | You go on shore.

The numbers inside the curly braces tell you where you are. The 07CB means how far east I am and the 0730 means how far south I am. Compare these coordinates to the very last line, which will show where you are now [or where you were the last time a message was generated. use 'l'ook command to generate one if needed. You can try walking around a little on the overland map and comparing the numbers to see how they change, whether you're going in the right direction or not, whether you've gone too far.

The numbers are in hexadecimal so if I go farther east of 07CB then I'll reach 07CC, 07CD, 07CE, 07CF, 07D0, 07D1, etc. If I go west then i'll go to 07CB, 07CA, 07C9...

These numbers are for the overland map though. If you're travelling on the zoomed in map because you're looking for your raft then it takes 64 steps to go from the beginning of one tile to the beginning of the next tile.

Re: [3.61 linux] very fresh driikiläis craftsmanhuman tracks which are numerous and Well the real issue is that they should be just "human tracks", because this way you can tell for example robber tracks apart from adventurer tracks when the information you really have  is "boot tracks", "fur footwear tracks" vs "barefoot human tracks".

It should be: child-sized human tracks, human tracks, and maybe big human tracks [for kaumo men or other giants]

Re: In the forest cover quest: tracks in the ice and locked out of wilderness map Reproduced: it's late winter month and I have a ram in the forest cover quest who won't follow me back to town. I left him behind by mistake and have just gone back for him and am zoomed in with him. We're in a mire of some kind, not near any lakes so the ice may be a red herring.

I'll send you an email

Re: Footwraps needed I made a pair of gloves once, starting with yarn, not with a sheep. it took 8 months. I obviously wasn't working on it 8 hours a day or anything like that, but I was working on them fairly often. i made socks once, too, but I didn't keep track of start or finish dates, but I'd guess it was about 6 months.

Re: [Suggestion] Metric measurements Since the game was made by Europeans I think it's more likely that the reason we don't have metric measurements is that metric measurements hadn't been invented in the iron age.

Re: How long in game? You can look at the first and last line of msglog.txt, for example my character Nousia:

Code: [Select]
first line:
(143270):1bg8:[#]{06DF0653}      | Zooming in ...
last line:
(008000):pcgb:[=]{06EA06A9}      | Your character has been saved.

"1bg8" and "pcgb" is the key here, the format is day-month-year-hour, and the numbers start using letters after 9, so I started the game on the 1st day of the bth month (11th = November = Dead month) of the gth year (16th - the character is 16 years old) at 8am, and now it is the pth day (9+16 = 25th day of the cth month (12th = December) of the same year, and it is b o'clock (11am).

My character Pekka started on the first of April (swidden) year 16
Code: [Select]
(143270):14g8:[#]{06700281}      | Zooming in ...
And now it is the 17th of November (dead) of the same year
Code: [Select]
(008000):hbga:[=]{06080060}      | Your character has been saved.

Flooding I live near a river and every spring the water level rises quite high, it would flood if we hadn't built such a high bank around it. If it doesn't rain for a while, the water level drops.

It would be interesting if the areas of low elevation collected water after rains and the shores of the rivers changed. It would be dangerous to build your shelter too close to the river if it was raining a lot, you'd have to build on higher ground. Valleys between mountains would also flood suddenly if there was a lot of rain.
