Re: Quality Questions I think Sami mentioned sometime ago that textilecraft is not his perception of tailoring. Compare to Timbercraft and Carpentry when dealing with sourcing and refining wood. At the moment the game uses Common skill (that doesn't improve) to make clothing (and some other tasks)

Here's the topic

Now that I looked up the post, it was about hideworking. Not wood working.

Re: Changing items to new Miscellaneous category Reading your comment second time, I think you might have misread. I am not suggesting removing ANY Categories. I’m asking items to be moved into Miscellaneous category introduced in 3.80
E.g. bow string is currently in Weapons. You can’t wield and use it to attack an enemy. You can attach/apply it to a bow without a string. Hence: move it to Miscellaneous.
E.g.2 elk bone, you can’t apply/use it in anyway directly. You can craft it to other items. Move it from Tools to Miscellaneous.

Re: Quality Questions One way to complicate the clothes crafting (with mods, sadly no skills can be modded), separating steps in to “measure, cut and sew sleeves”x2, “measure, cut and sew body”, “sew the shirt together”

When working with flat pieces like leather, fur and cloth, it’s pretty straightforward and not overly complicated in real life. But one does lose portion of the material from cutoffs, which can be used elsewhere, but that adds additional sewing.
Nalbinding, knitting and even crochet doesn’t waste yarn, but takes an experienced craftsperson to produce anything in decent time.

Once “pause any task” from development plans gets implemented, that’ll also hopefully include tasks longer than 8h.

(There’s an exploit* to utilize the rare masterwork staff into multiple masterwork javelins: have 8 staves of any quality on ground/adjacent, then select to make 9 javelins and last choose MW staff from your inventory, do not have the MW staff on ground!
*last tested in 3.63, might not work in 3.72 or 3.80)
Is it unfair to use such exploit: maybe. But one could contest that a grand-timber-master should be able to produce MW and Fine staves themselves.

Re: *DAMNED* Meeting with water spirits quest Generally speaking find rapids or ford, both tend to have several 1 tile rocks jutting out of the water. Wade or swim to one, move on to the skerry. And wait.
If you can’t climb to the skerry from wading/swimming, you won’t get on it from watercraft either.

Remember to strip down.

Re: *DAMNED* Meeting with water spirits quest Do you happen to have leashed animals nearby, that does mess up with old man and water spirits showing up. I’d take the animals 3 wilderness map tiles away.

Get on the skerry late evening. And pass time:
I usually bring some smoked or dried food, and bring supplies for arrow making for crafting.
I guess you could bring fishing rod and turnip for bait too. Or blocks and knife&axe for bowl carving. When the spirits show up, you’ll get prompted.

Re: [3.80 beta linux] leashed animals poop more than penned animals .. anyone who has (had) a dog, knows they poop twice as much when going for walkies...

Cooking in [embers] We got ember roasted turnips couple years ago are were teased of getting [embers] as cooking option.

Please?

Even better would be to adjust [bake] and also add [stew] to replace current [bake]

So the cooking tags would be:
[roast] require fire
[boil] require fire and pot
[bake] require hot fireplace
[stew] require hot fireplace and pot
[ember] require hot embers

Or allow [bake] to commence without a pot, so we can utilize hot oven for breads, and baked fish. But that might be more coding work.

Re: Quest Reward   The island is 1 tile.

The rocks are in prefixed spacing:
Code: [Select]
  R
 RXR

X … marks the spot :P

Re: Winter Fur You can always edit diy_glossary to use textilecraft, not common. Or give the COMMON 20% skill increase.
