Re: Modding Tutorial and Help Lake reed flour exist in vanilla, as does bogbean root flour as well.
I need to check if their base items are barley, rye or their own flours.

Re: Caught my Gal sleeping on the job and discovered this amazing fact! Isometric perspective makes standing south-north and laying down East-west clear if the character is upright or down.
Maybe we should switch the table and bunk orientations to match the fallen/laying down graphic better.

Re: Shutters Shutters act as windows, see-thru walls, really in-game.
No heat loss.

I had suggestion some time ago to make it possible to close and open them, similar to doors (and gates)
Given 3.63, most current release, introduced fire, and smoking changes, it might be a while before Sami goes back into that (smoke and heat) section of code the next time. But then, he’s been pretty darn productive lately.  :D

Re: Caught my Gal sleeping on the job and discovered this amazing fact! I don’t recall any bonus for sleeping on bunk vs table vs bench vs floor.
Fur and furs (8lbs, 16lbs+) give warmth bonus. You’ll get the text “sleep on fur” and “wrap yourself in furs”.
I’m not sure of exact numbers, but often during winter time, my toons pack couple forest reindeer hides on their dog(s) when heading out for trek. Rarely if ever they wake up shivering, even without a fire going.

Re: Cave Living And if you have 2wide (or wider) space on the cave walls, you can always build a log wall, or a shutter, to make it work with door.

I personally prefer the log structures in North-east section, with cave wall and door below them. Graphics line up prettier in my opinion.

Re: Angry Water Spirits
So what I've noticed is, things that I know are definitely associated with the Forest say "You feel comfortable", where when I do just raw fish when I catch, it says "You feel at ease". I suspect that shows which spirit accepts the sacrifice.

“Comfortable” message is displayed when the sacrifice has great effect on the standing with the spirits.
“At ease” message is displayed when the receiving spirits appreciate it, but the effect is massive.
For example; sacrificing elk cut of freshly harvested animal should give “comfortable” message.
Maybe for several days. But after several days, few weeks, sacrificing those cuts will become “at ease” messages.
The sacrifice has greater effect if the status with spirits isn’t already “maxed out”

Well. That’s how I *think* it’s set.
Spirits are mysterious, and well, I for one, prefer it to stay that way.

Re: Skis & Movement About the ski design, they were mismatched: Lyly and kalhu. Lyly (from compression pine) was longer, for gliding, nearly 3 meters or 10 feet long. Where kalhu (from birch) was the “kicking ski” still pretty long at around 2 meters or 7 feet. Kicking ski without fur “friction patch” was called ‘sivakka’.
Article in Finnish over at National Museum: Lyly ja kalhu (google translate might work... the article isn’t available in English)

Kalevala even lists the cost of ski stick parts: stick cost an otter hide and the stopper for it cost brown fox’s fur. That’s not cheap!

Re: Best music to listen while playing UrW

One Finnish group that I'm listening is called Tenhi, I don't really understand the lyrics but they are really nice songs slow, soft. My favourite is "Pojan Kiiski" I think the song is about a boy and his fish but I dunno, it is cool though.

“Pojan kiiski” literally translates to “boy’s roach”... not really an eating fish, but ok as a bait  ;)

Re: Adventurer Gear Being a warrior wouldn’t require expensive equipment. Many people already carry axes, knives, spears, bow&arrows. Place an emphasis on the NPC creation for these types to have a decent to expert skill in at least one type of weapon AND have them carry that. After checking “preferred and accessible weapons” for their given culture.
E.g. Owl-tribe warrior to spawn likely with northern bow, not flail. Kiesseläinen maybe with an axe. Islander with a knife, axe (they’re carpentry oriented) or spear, they do have access to angon. Koivulainen might spawn with flail as skill, but shouldn’t have actual flail, only grain flail. And so on.
