Re: Forum having issues? As a reply to Erkka, I can now reach the forum without complaints, after staying away for a few days due to the issue.

Re: Rattle of death I've made use of death rattles and thuds with fresh characters where I've used it to put something into an empty belly. Needless to say, such characters aren't equipped to deal with anything that isn't scared away.

I was sure about the thud from bird vs bird, but less so when a bird targets a mammal, but it may well be true that bird attacker => thud regardless of what the target is.

Re: Are the animals getting tired too quickly? It's very dependent on your character. A fast character has a much easier time chasing down an elk than a slow one, since the fast character gives the elk much less time to recover between bouts of fleeing. It also depends heavily on the terrain and character tracking skills, as open terrain with clear footprints allows the character to chase the elk a lot easier than in spruce infested forests where you have to get very close to the elk before it notices you and flees (and so it has a lot more time to recover), in particular if you can't always follow the footprints, as trees are in the way of the ones you could see.

However, something that HAS changed is that snow now affects others than the PC, in particular deep snow with a crust strong enough to carry the PC, but not strong enough to carry the elk. That situation is drastically different from before the change.

Re: Are the animals getting tired too quickly? Walking in deep snow is very tiring, unless there's a crust strong enough to support the PC. The change made non PC creatures (i.e. other humans as well as animals) affected, and the PC more affected than before. Skis, however, improves the situation significantly. Unfortunately, NPC don't yet know how to ski...

Re: How long can i keep seeds? As mentioned, UrW seeds do not expire.

It can also be noted that autumn planting works in UrW, and as far as I've seen it works with all plants, not only those that are typically considered suitable for that usage (such as e.g. rye). Autumn planting means that you plant your crops in the autumn while the soil is still warm enough, have the plants germinate and grow, then have the above ground parts wither and die as the cold sets in. In spring these plants then have a head start and matures faster than spring planted crops (they basically start to grow immediately, even if the soil is too cold for planting).

Re: That's how you think the weather will be like I've used it for some purposes:
- When traveling: Do I have to stop early and build a shelter, or can I just continue and sleep under the stars?
- Is it going to be so deadly cold that I have to stay at my homestead near a fire, or can I travel (in particular when the winter gear is lacking)?
- I spring, is there a risk that ice that is safe in the morning would be unsafe in the evening, potentially making it risky to return back to the homestead? Testing the ice by trying to go out onto it while carrying a maximum load is a better test, but a weather forecast is a complement (if you can go out onto the ice safely, you should be able to return if you reduce your load, and crawling can increase the margin further [at least assuming you don't have skis]).

Re: The UrW Anti-RSI Campaign group. ARSI, for short. As far as I understand the game courses aren't intended to be crammed through, but rather intended as activity guides. Yes, that means that it may take quite a long time before the archery skill is increased through normal game play, but there's a whole life to get through the courses.

Re: Find map location from message log? I believe there are ways to convert the code into a location, although I've never used it or known how. The info ought to be somewhere on the forum, though, as I believe usage of it has been discussed.

For the future, you may want to consider leaving a map marker on the world tile where you left whatever important things you drop off somewhere. That makes it a lot easier to find your way back. Also, when possible, leaving them somewhere distinct may help as well (close to the shore of a river, for instance), although you often don't have that option.

Re: [3.72#2 Win 10 Steam] Cannot drop duplicated leash on cow I've seen Njerp villages shift into kota settlements with neutrals before, although it was several years ago, I think.

F1 help ought to cover smoking The changes to smoking of food has made it quite a chore to perform, which is probably a reflection of the reality, but, more importantly, is quite impenetrable to players. There's really a need to explain both how much wood you need to use, how often you need to repeat the burning, as well as for how long you need to do it. None of these steps are intuitively obvious to people not familiar with smoking, and even those who are may well know how to use it as a means of cooking (for immediate/near term consumption) rather than a means of long term preservation.
