When I press [,+] to pick up all the items, it doesn't select the cords and rope that I am getting back from the meat. I have to type the letters in.

Also the amount of cords initially looks wrong here: 50 meat cuts is 25 feet of card, but this is 15 + 15 = 30 feet.

I waited some more time to see what the final amounts would be:

15 ft fine cord
15 ft rope
15 ft inferior cord
5 ft inferior cord
5 ft rope
= 55 ft tying equipment total
200 smoked elk cuts

So at first it looked like i was going to get back more but now it looks like i am getting back less -- it makes sense for the final answer to be less, maybe some of the cord had to be cut or wasn't usable after the cooking or whatever.

Today I got to see an NPC hunting! I gave him a roach because i wanted him to cook it, and then I followed him around to see what he would do. There was a bear in the area that he was tracking. His dog stayed closer to me than to him while he was trailing than bear -- it may have been better for the dog to stay closer to his adventurer but maybe the dog judged i might be the bigger threat or maybe the NPC didnt want him rushing ahead and getting killed by the bear. Once the NPC got aggressive, the dog came running to help with the fight and together they took down the bear. The NPC skinned the bear and cut it for meat. He kept 76 meat cuts in his inventory and left the rest of the meat, the skull, and the bones on the ground. Then he lit 3 fires to roast the meat. He didn't mind when I picked up the skull, took out the teeth, hung it on a nearby pine (it would be a neat touch for the NPC to hang the skull himself). I hung around for a while, his dog ate some of the meat on the ground. He also didn't mind when I took the rest of his meat cuts -- this might not be a bug, because it was more than he could carry so I guess he didn't want it.

I saw in news.txt that tanning the hide isn't implemented yet.

In all this excitement I forgot to check whether he roasted that roach i gave him at the start, but I'll go back and find him again soon but I got the punt quest at the village I took the bear meat to so it'll be a little while to I can track him down.

Villagers mind if I [p]ush their lumber into the fire place, but they don't separately mind if I light it on fire and they don't charge me for the damaged goods.

Villagers don't mind if I [t]hrow their lumber into the fireplace, but they do charge me for it, which is fair.

I confess I don't know anything about coat colour variation in domesticated reindeer, so perhaps it is intentional, but I noticed these reindeer are all the same colour. Perhaps they could come in different shades of grey, like the rams and sheep do.

Solved'n'fixed bug reports / [3.60 beta-hotfix 2] villagers don't cook fish
« on: September 18, 2019, 10:27:08 PM »
I have given everybody (including the children, the sage, the craftsmen, the women, the hunter, the peasant, etc.) in this village a roach, a bream, or a perch. I have spent about 6 days in the village so far - it is right by a lake so I am fishing for myself too. But nobody is doing any cooking.

I know they are neither hunting NPCs nor companions but it is easier to stumble on NPCs in a village and I wanted to see the things I have read about in news.txt

Not bugs / [3.60 beta-hotfix 2] game froze
« on: September 18, 2019, 06:28:03 PM »
I don't know if this is a problem with wine or with the game. I am just outside a village, peeling a tree in a neighbouring tile, so there is a lot of NPC activity around.

Here's the tail of msglog.txt

Code: [Select]
(143270):q8g8:[#]{01B40362}      | Using: TIMBERCRAFT
(143270):q8g8:[#]{01B40362}      | Timbercraft option: Peel bark from a tree
(147870):q8g8:[?]{01B40362}      | (1) You need knife for peeling bark - preferably a small knife.
(AB5700):q8g8:[+]{01B40362}      | The fine kaumolais knife in your inventory will be used.
(000000):q8g8:[O]{01B40362}      | Ok, you have all the necessary equipment!
(A80000):q8g8:[!]{01B40362}      | The kaumolais knife is a tolerable tool here and its fine quality certainly helps.
(000000):q8g8:[Y]{01B40362}      | You hear a bark from the north-west.
(3C5A98):q8gb:[:]{01B40362}      | It starts to rain.
(AB5700):q8gb:[+]{01B40362}      | After careful peeling you managed to harvest a ball of birch-bark strip (50 ft) from this tree.
(A80000):q8gb:[!]{01B40362}      | There's a pine blocking your way!

wine is outputting this message periodically, even now since it has frozen:

Code: [Select]
0009:fixme:imm:ImeSetCompositionString PROBLEM: This only sets the wine level string
0009:fixme:imm:ImeSetCompositionString Reading string unimplemented
0009:fixme:imm:NotifyIME NI_CLOSECANDIDATE

The game is completely frozen, doesn't react to any key presses, but the window can still be resized. My cpu usage is only at 37% and RAM is only at 35% usage. I am going to have to kill the process,  but before i do that, i will make a tarball of my character directory. Do you want me to send it to you?

54
I'm not sure if they're barking at me or at my pig. I'm not even sure if this is a bug -- they don't know me yet, and dogs bark at strangers. anyway, i can provide a save if you want it.

55
I have a stack of 3 cords in my inventory of 15ft each. I dry some meat, it asks me how many I want to use 1, 2, or 3. When I select 1, it correctly uses 25 feet of cord. But it should not ask me how many to use anymore.

56
If you start constructing a fence when you are ready to drop, it places the initial fence on the map, but when you try to continue it after sleep, it demands more wooden stakes. you have to deconstruct it before you can continue. This is an old bug and was present in previous versions.

Also the grid lines show faintly on the ice, even with [MAP_GRID:NO].

57
I have been noticing this for a while. Whenever you encounter forest reindeer, use F3 to look at them. There are does and calves but no stags. I haven't seen a single forest reindeer stag since gender was implemented. I have seen both reindeer stags  and does for sale in northern villages.

Also I have never seen a baby hare  but I haven't encountered enough hares to be sure that I just haven't got lucky yet; after all it took me many games to see a single bear cub and it may be the same with hares. But I have encountered hundreds of forest reindeer by now and all of them have been female.

Suggestions / Secret Female Quests
« on: November 02, 2018, 07:56:08 AM »
The only NPCs who give out secret quests (the ones that the whole village doesn't know about) are males: there's the trapping quest, the give me your knife quest, maybe a few others, but always a male.

This means that it's not really worth it to talk to the women in the village at all, because if there's a public quest then anybody can tell you about it, so asking a guy has you covered, and if there's a secret quest then you have to talk to potentially all of the men but you can skip the women.

Sometimes a women can be the quest giver (the take me to your home region quest), but that's a public quest that everybody knows about.

tl;dr: The next time more quests are added, it would be nice if there were some quests that only the female NPCs know about

I've tried with a few different "base rock" tiles, like the one shown in this image. I've tried being naked and leaving all my stuff on the shore and swimming out to it and I've tried just dropping my whole inventory on my punt at my feet on the one tile. I think both of these methods worked in 3.40 but I tried them both just in case. I tried at a "crag" tile too, which didn't work (but it didn't in 3.40 either).

Am I doing something wrong? Has it changed? Or it's a bug? I can provide a save for this character if needed.
