Title: What's the warmest fur?
Post by: White Hair on May 14, 2020, 06:47:06 AM
I've heard that bear fur is the strongest and warmest fur. However, others of have said that it's changed and now elk/reindeer are warmer. Does anyone have evidence of what's the warmest fur in the most recent patch?

I can't find the actual source post on the warmth factors, but I recall elk&reindeer at max, next tier below sheep, bear, wolf, then tier below foxes, generic fur etc.

For non-warmth, I recall bear is still the best choice.

According to this: https://unrealworld.fandom.com/wiki/Clothing  , bear and badger are best for warmth.

PS: Bear is best for everything, not only warmth. Couple that with Iron protection and you are set to go.

Maybe someone can check the game files to see which one is better.

The tables are the same but this article is otherwise more up to date.

On that link Labtop posted, scroll down to Material defense values.

The graphic ones (On the Laptob’s posted link to current wiki, at top and on Stefan’s link reply) simulating ingame look are out of date: they were accurate for 3.1x (I think the values were corrected sometime around 3.1-3.3)

Mentioned in that wiki is that there is a +1 Warmth (or some bonus) to "winter" harvested fur. The game, AFAIK, uses the date the animal is butchered on to check against a set of dates to see if it is winter or regular fur. Winter fur is the animal fluffing it up with extra material and weight to be warmer. That stuff is shed later when its hotter to reduce over heating and be lighter in motion. Colors can change in some animals too.
