Title: [Outdated][3.71][3.63][3.62] URWCharacterMenu v1.0.4b
Post by: Night on November 12, 2019, 06:49:07 AM
[Outdated][3.71][3.63][3.62] URWCharacterMenu v1.0.4b

Ancient cheat menu I've been working on for the past couple of year's, noticed a lot more people playing since steam release and decided to create something more user-friendly than manually using cheat engine.

Warning: When using the injury editor, make sure your injuries are valid when adding new ones (type, severity, location, damage, side) as I have not added error checking for incomplete injuries, and they do cause a game crash when viewed.

Any plan for a cross platform version? (Linux)

Any plan for a cross platform version? (Linux)

This is probably possible with mono, but I'd have to do my research on it as I've never used it, and probably learn a bit of linux which I'm not too familiar with. So probably not in the near future, at least by me. I might dabble in it at some point, since you asked, but no promises ;)

Sure I understand. When you setup the git repository I can help with that if you'd like, as I have experience with Linux programming

Just to point out mono on linux is regarded by most hardcore linux users as not being linux anymore. I for one have no intention of installing mono. If you have a git repository, not on github, then I could look at converting the code, sometime. (tm)

I use to have a cheat table with lots of option, but with the update, I can't use it and don't know how to update the offset...

Your software look interesting, do you intend to had the modification of the dates too? I like to freeze the center month for playing in a frozen world longer than intended ;p

Yes I intend to add something to edit time in a future version, Ive actually got quite a bit of new features coming out next version that I think people will like, item editor is coming along very nicely. Ive also added teleport waypoints, click-teleport, click-direction and started working with overlays so it looks nicer. Next version will probably be released after I complete item editor.

Ill probably add time editor/freezing next release as well since its fairly simple to do.

Feedback : Fatigue option does not work for me  :-\

And I really like the thing about Tribe name. I named my character Hakon the Bastard!

Thanks for the feedback! I appreciate it. I just started bug testing myself and noticed a few things that cause crashes and loss of functionality, they should be fixed in the next update.

I've also been making slow progress with the item struct array, so I'm going to probably put the full editor on the back burner for now, and just release something that allows you to manipulate your inventories item count and ID's, and come back to the full editor later for actual manipulation of the items statistics. (the item struct has a lot of data to work with, implementing the UI I'm working on is going to take some time) Also probably going to port a lot of features to console for ease of use and stability purposes (such as, /setskill stealth 100, /setattrib strength 16, etc)

I've also been messing with some other stuff in cheat engine, but just some fiddling around, no real concrete plan. for example I can change an animals name, tile location, sprite, probably a bunch of other stuff i didn't mess with, theres a bunch of stuff in item struct related to an items effects and use... tons to play with. Since I'm just one guy though I'll probably be making a thread with a bunch of addresses I've found if anyone wants to explore it themselves.

Also going to probably update this after the next game update comes around the corner, as the addresses will also need to be updated at that point.

Feel free to request features!

When you add inventory editor, could you make item editor too?

For example, making masterwork Northern bow adding prefix

I intend to do this eventually but making it perfect is taking a bit of time. Mostly writing the code for the UI and making sure my documentation on the item struct is correct. Here is a WIP preview (don't expect this being complete any time soon):

Next version will include a smaller version of this, which will allow you to edit the quantity and ID of an item, as well as scrape items from your characters item struct.

Some items have no masterwork or rough quality? I spawned leather shirts and I found that they have no masterwork or fine level of item, even I insert every item codes listed below.

The items from the list are generated as you play the game, if you haven't encountered a masterwork version of that item yet, chances are its not in your characters item list.

I'll make a post on quality modification today or tomorrow, separate from this thread.

edit: Updated to v.1.0.1b, patch notes in OP.

I'm using 3.61 stable (steam). Tried both file in the attachments.

I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. It opens, detects my character immediately (fantastic!) and I give myself the shovel that I know I had and definitely didn't sell but can't find anymore...

And then I close the program, load up my character, and... nothing changed. I don't have the shovel.

So, erm... how do you actually save the changes you make in this? I don't see a save button. I see a tickbox, but ticking it doesn't change the result. Also, when I click "Open Item ID List" it just tells me "Items not saved to file."

I really need that shovel. :(

---

Edit: Oh I see, you have to actually have the game and program open at the same time. Usually with these things you have to close out first. That's what I was doing wrong. I got my shovel back! :D Thank you for making this, Night!

Bug report. Teleport doesn't work. Testing it, trying to teleport to saved Home01, both from the map and zoomed in: https://prnt.sc/qsnjhr
It says Teleport complete, Waypoint does not exist. https://prnt.sc/qsnk4g
But, waypoint exists: https://prnt.sc/qsnkar
Here is what I use to try to teleport: https://prnt.sc/qsnkpk /tp Home01

What can I do? Thank you

Will need to fix this when I am home. For now people who want to use teleport will have to use /tp x y as the command instead.

The button refreshes your list of items on the right side of your inventory editor tab, just makes it so you can see any new items that have been added during play time.

Thinking about it now i should probably rename it to "Refresh".

Is this feature working right now? Whenever I have a new item in my inventory, the editor throws an error labeled "The given key was not present in the dictionary." When I restart the editor it seems to find the list correctly.

The editor should work fine for what it displays, I haven't got around to my desktop yet so I can't pinpoint what exactly is going wrong yet, but its probably just having a problem saving new items to the internal list for some reason, as the error is saying it cant find the item its trying to display. If restarting the editor works properly than use that for now when additional items are acquired and not displayed properly.

Hopefully I should be able to start addressing some of these issues within the next day or so.

edit: I believe I have fixed the bugs, I'm working on some additional features before I release the next patch though, should be updated sometime this week.

It worked great, but only first time I used it.

Then:
Loading saved character - nothing, not detecting character
Making new character - nothing, not detecting character.

I'm using Steam (3.61) version.

EDIT: I gave it a try, and I'm getting an error when I start the editor:

System.ArgumentOutOfRangeException: InvalidArgument=Value of '254' is not valid for 'SelectedIndex'.

I'm using a fresh install of the free 3.61 version of the game. I'm not sure if there's any difference between the free and Steam versions, and if that could be causing an error.

Steam version and free version may have different addresses. I will confirm shortly and update appropriately.

Yes it appears the steam version updated one of their files which affected the addresses for steam users.
the previous version (1.0.1c) should still work for non-steam users, but I will start providing another binary for the standalone.

Added labeled downloads for steam vs standalone version.

This is awesome! Thank you.

I tried to use 1.0.2 to edit my character stats during creation (before skill allocation) as I had with 1.0.1c earlier. But, it caused a crash later in character creation right before I spawned in (after I chose the course). The problem may be related to my character's surname; the Driik have a special character in their tribal name which was mangled when read by the CharacterMenu app and then re-mangled when written.

Weird seeing as I updated the strings to handle the correct encoding, shouldn't be editing the special characters wrong anymore. I will look into this. Thanks for the post.

Seems to be the encoding the game uses is slightly modified. Going to have to manually map the characters by hand, should be fixed next update. (not sure why this would affect your stats still).

"X-Ray vision" was probably a poor choice of words on my part, but basically It sets your character to be detected as "in a tree", so you gain the sight properties as if you had climbed a tree to get a better view.

@marginoferror figured out the problem with improper formatting, still not sure why you crashed though. I will replicate your other steps and see what i come up with

Having trouble locating the bug. On my end everything is working fine. Its crashing because of an invalid index being used on the UI according to the crash log. If i can get your characters save folder from either of you guys i think that might help, but other than that i cant see exactly whats going on. I can probably make conditions to prevent it from setting it to an invalid index, but that wouldnt really be a fix to the source of the problem, just mitigating it.

Thanks guys, I appreciate it. I'll take a look later tonight when I'm back home and let you know what I find out.

edit: Found the culprit, gonna see if I can sneak some new features in before releasing a patch later today.

Pretty tierd atm, just gonna drop the standalone exe here for now and update the OP later. Let me know if you run into any more issues!

Hi! Fantastic mod! Much better than fiddling around with a hex editor, that's for sure.

I was wondering if you'd consider adding a way to modify the experience rate of skills in your tool (shown ingame as silver stars in the skill menu), as they derive from the stats rolled at character creation, but don't seem to change if you modify those afterwards.

Thanks for your work!

While the update was fairly minimal, looks like URWCharacterMenu doesn't want to run on UrW 3.63. Eagerly waiting on the updated version!

Thanks in advance!

Just saw there was a patch, thanks for the headsup ^^. I'll see about adding the XP rate as well, (Found the stars earlier in cheat engine, no clue if they have any effect. possibly?)

I didn't see it in your planned features - but would you consider a Rituals editor (adding/removing Rituals) or is that outside the scope of what you can/want to do? I've often wanted to play around with them but earning them is slow, and the starting ones are always a gamble.

Hey sorry I haven't gotten back to you in awhile, I did intend to take a closer look at rituals at some point to see if I could add/remove them. Been busy with other stuff & life so I haven't had much time to get into a coding mood yet, but I do intend get back to work on this and a few other things sooner than later.

edit: Updated the app for steam version, working on stand alone real quick then Ill update the OP.

The CharacterMenu was crashing every time when attempting to launch it earlier. It seems to have something to do with injuries, and I had a bleeding, deep cut in the neck with an almost full injury bar to it at the time (see picture at the bottom of the post). Here's the crash report;

Probably not, the problem occurs when data from the injury array is read but has an unexpected value in relation to the amount of available options that one of the selection box's has for an injuries values. So, like if the data for whether the wound is left right or none isnt 0,1,2 etc, it'll throw an index exception due to not having an option for what the game data is telling it that value is. I'll work on something to probably just set unexpected values to 'unknown', I've got other plans when I get in a coding mood again as well but I haven't been able to force myself into it, so, just waiting for now.

I'd like to work on the map data in particular.

Unhandled exception error, this time after firing up URWCharacterMenu and trying to select a row in the inventory tab. Some item IDs are showing as being above 60000 and I think it doesn't like that. I can "continue" from there and not quit the program, but I'm effectively locked out of modifying stuff that appears as having an ID above 60000. I did keep a spare save this time, which I can share if needed.

Not sure if this has been reported before but F-Secure diagnoses the executable as malware. It is an heuristic diagnosis so it may be a false positive. Just a heads-up anyway.

Kinda confused on how the inventory screen works. Do you have a tutorial?

I'll write something on it tomorrow to help clarify how to use it.
Tomorrow as in when I wake up that is ;).

Here is a detailed screenshot of how the inventory editor functions:
http://prntscr.com/v9pku9
@MattHatter42

Code: [Select]
See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

************** Exception Text **************
System.ArgumentOutOfRangeException: Value of '61285' is not valid for 'Value'. 'Value' should be between 'Minimum' and 'Maximum'.
Parameter name: Value
   at System.Windows.Forms.NumericUpDown.set_Value(Decimal value)

Ill fix this shortly, ID max of the numeric updown is 60000 I think, ill see if i can calculate a max size for the array in the game. Though, it does seem like a very high number of unique ID's already.
@BlankPaper

Bug report : While editing tribe name, the 'n' is force attached behind. ex:'the huntern', 'the mann'

Not exactly sure what you mean here but I'll try to reproduce it and let you know, as there's been formatting problems in the past before. @morrneyo

I love all your work and wish you the best.

When I can, is probably the best answer I can give you for an update.

I've been thinking about that answer for about 30 minutes now so, hopefully that's better than a dishonest response or nothing at all lol. I've just got a lot on my mind. Updating the addresses isn't a very hard task to do, I just want to do more than that, and I don't know when I'll have the stroke of motivation to do what I want to do with this project. Maybe soon, maybe not. I've been working on implementing containers into the URWME project, still have some loose ends to tie up on that but maybe after I get that functioning I can return to working on a superior version of this.

I may end up updating the addresses before that, but, I don't know. I was also hoping to do it after stable release, but yea. We'll see. I appreciate the support, it has definitely helped along the way.

Also, neat workaround by ineedcords there, for some functionality.

Edit - scratch the below, it's me being an idiot.  I had been trying to use the character menu for 3.63 with 3.62, which of course didn't work.  I just spotted there is also a character menu for 3.62 which of course works fine!  And 3.62 is the free version so no problem to download, make a character, then migrate to 3.70  :)

Workaround: you can create the character in v.3.63 and then upgrade to v.3.70 to play that char.

Not so simple if you're using the Steam version; it won't let me download 3.63 because it knows I already did that, even though I subsequently installed the 3.70 Beta-3.  URW is the first game I have played via Steam so if there is a way to have dual installations that I have failed to spot, then I would be happy to hear it!

I assume the solution is to uninstall 3.70, reinstall 3.63, make the character, then uninstall 3.63 and reinstall 3.70 again.  I think I am correct in saying that as long as I back up my character folders before doing this, I should be able to go back to 3.70 without any problems.  Can anyone confirm this?  I would be gutted if it messed up the characters I am already playing.

I did this and it seems to work but I would create a copy of my characters just in case something bad happens. My character did not have any of the new added items in 3.70b for example. So I can not say anything about the items you have on your character, they might get deleted when you downgrade from 3.70b to 3.63. You can view your game location by right clicking on the game, Manage and the Browse local files. You should see a folder same name with your character, copy it somewhere else and you should be fine.

You are right, Steam will not let you have two version of the same application but luckily for you Steam does not control your computer and you do :)
You of course can get two legal versions of UnrealWorld on your computer using copy and paste method.

You could try the steps below -- it looks like a novel but it's just 4-5 minute work.

Step 1: (An optional but recommended step) First, back up your savegame directory/directories first.
For example if you are playing a character called 'JohnDoe', and if your Steam is installed (on your presumably Windows PC) at the default path ("C:\Program Files\Steam\"), then you want to:
Step 1a: go to the path "C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\UnRealWorld\" and right click on the "JohnDoe" directory and click COPY and then
Step 1b: go to somewhere else, for example your Desktop, and right click PASTE.
Step 1c: do the same if you have other characters such as "JaneDoe" etc. in the same directory.

Step 2: Go to Steam application, disable the UnrealWorld beta program, thus take your Steam-UnrealWorld installation back to the current latest-and-greatest-STABLE-(non-beta)-version, which is v.3.63.

Step 3a: Using Windows Explorer, go to the directory which contains UnrealWorld game installation directory.
In this example, that would be at the path "C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\".
Step 3b: Right click on "UnrealWorld" and click COPY and then
Step 3c: go to somewhere else, for example your Desktop, and right click PASTE.
Now on your desktop you have a UnrealWorld v.3.63 installation.
To be crystal clear this is a duplicate copy and it is forever disconnected from the one that resides in your Steam directory.
If UnrealWorld v.4 is released and you update to it via Steam, the one on your desktop will stay as 3.63.
If you uninstall UnrealWorld via Steam (of course no actual human would ever do that but for the sake of argument let's say insanity took over and you didn't love this game any more ;) ) Steam copy will go away but the Desktop one will stay, unless you manually delete it from your Desktop.

4. Go back to Steam application, choose to activate the beta program once again thus taking your Steam-managed UnrealWorld version back to 3.70beta3 level.
To be crystal clear once more, this step-4 action will update "C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\UnRealWorld\" but it will not touch the Desktop one.
---

At this point in time, you should have two things:
1) Inside your Steam-managed UnrealWorld directory, version 3.70beta3. To be clear, it is here -> "C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\UnRealWorld\"
2) Inside your Desktop UnrealWorld directory, version 3.63. To be clear, it is here -> "C:\Users\<yourWindowsUsername>\Desktop\UnRealWorld\"

With this setup, you can go to v.3.63, create a new character, it will create a new savegame directory for the character, such as:
"C:\Users\<yourWindowsUsername>\Desktop\UnRealWorld\<newCharacterName>"

You modify it with the tool provided by Night in this thread.

You then copy & paste the now-modified version, from: "C:\Users\<yourWindowsUsername>\Desktop\UnRealWorld\<newCharacterName>" into the Steam location, here: "C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\UnRealWorld\".

If you do try this and all works, enjoy (it should work by the way). Should you experience issues, post here and we will try and help further...

As (if, for other subscribers) you’ve bought the Steam version of the game, you can contact Sami/Erkka for “Lifetime supporter” status on this forum. Then simply download the standalone version you need. And keep your Steam setup as is.

It looks like a checksum verification was added and changing values to a certain amount gives you constant error messages when zooming in and out.  I've been playing around with this and it happens using URWCharacterMenu or if I change things manually with Cheat Engine.  For instance, setting all of your stats to 18 will cause it, but setting one back to 17 will get rid of it.  Similarly for skills, setting them all to 100 will cause it, but setting half of them to 90 fixes it.  I haven't played since earlier this year, so it may not be introduced with 3.70, but I've never run into it before and I didn't see much with googling it.

Thanks for the post. I made a quick patch to mitigate the error messages, but there's probably a reason he added them (maybe for fixing corrupt characters due to other bugs?). Going over the limits may or may not have an impact elsewhere in the game, so max them at your own risk.

Hello, I'm a long time fan from BAC comunity and auto suficiency like mods for unreal world..
I would like to know if you wold like to develop a major upgrade to physician or medical skill in Unreal world.

In old times of humanity development, the major death cause besides hunger and violence (two of the causes we VEterans of the game learn to avoid if we don't act stupid) were Diseases.. the majority of the people in iron age didn't pass thorough their fourthyes.. due to INfluenza, tuberculosis, and other respiratory or infectuos diseases.. sepsis from a scrach... organ failure due to poisoning acute or chronic like Lead poisoning (many pots where made from this metal) over years of accumullation... hearing and sight loss from bad healed infections or trauma.. parasites seeping from your nutrition pool (bad cooking ability doens't kill parasites), and other component in long term (years) survival

Where I want to get...
I'm a physician (i Can mail you my certifications), and I have a initial knowledge in the language for programming used in the Unreal World Game..
I would like to know if you have interest to form a partnership with me to do something in the way as i've written above..

Do you have interest? As a non money profit project? Your program ability to edit attributes and skills would improve a lot this project of mine
Sorry for bad english (I'm brazilian) and still learning the language  ;D

I have a long history with this game, been playing since childhood, and when I graduated from university, I decided to buy the original game in Steam as a way to support the autor. It has come to me.. why not plan something and share it with the comunity? And well, here I am

Updated to 3.71; No address changes (as far as i can tell) just a problem with version checking. I'll be migrating features from this project over to URWME when I update that project for the current patch, mostly to centralize all my projects into one area, and also to hopefully to gain more traction with using the mod extenders features.

Made a small whoopsie and forgot to check the code patches, which did indeed change in location so I updated those real quick and reuploaded.

Its a bug with one of the combo box's not having an index for some of the new ranges for values in the old physique and phobia addresses. If you use it on a different character, it should work. I started porting this over to URWME, been gaming alot with friends so havent done much coding recently. Eventually I'll get around to updating/releasing my new stuff.

Hey,
Is this mod still in development? Does it work with current Unreal World? When I downloaded it, it gives me an error message when trying to run it. When I do run it and try to add an item to my characters inventory, it just randomly adds an item, not the one I selected. Is this supposed to happen, or am I doing something wrong? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Make sure the version you're using is the same version as your game version - there are some bugs in the current version I haven't patched here, and the inventory editor isnt too great in its current state, to add a new item you need to gather the item ID you want to add from the list on the right side, and then input that into the item ID slot after adding a new item to your inventory. (if i remember right.)

first of all, thank you very much. i'm a programmer so i can appreciate how much memory fiddling and backend effort had to go into this.

but... secondly... what the fuck is that UI, dude? it's completely broken and makes no sense and can't even be read properly, let alone used.
"add" button adds who knows what, sometimes it seems like it adds whatever is selected in inventory, the editboxes which seem that should belong to the "add" edit sometimes edit the item selected in the inventory view, I have no freakin idea what is going on in there, and doing literally anything inventory-related is just a roll of a dice regarding of what my input will do and where it will take params from, and... seriously, what the hell. this isn't even a "programmer interface", this is just... i don't even... to me it seems that making the interface as it is had to take active effort to make it so borked as it is. anything beyond active effort to make it this borked would have to result in something miles more usable and sensible than whatever is there right now...

i'm sorry, but... WAT.

you can contact me on discord @ Night#9736, or attempt to send it here on the forums through pm.

Hi thanks a lot for this tool.

not sure if you are still maintaining it, but for some reason it looks like this on my computer (Windows 10) and cannot be stretched, any clue?

And, what does the 'current tutorial' do? I've also tried it on CheatEngine, doesn't seem to do anything, should it reset the tutorial/game course?

Cheers.

I can confirm your screenshot is correct and it cannot be resized.

Best option to contact Night is on discord, though I think he has moved onto other things now, he was most helpful to me a few months ago.

Night is still around now and then, so it can't hurt to give him a POKE.

If you don't want to wait though, Rudy has done a cheat engine for 3.72 here:
