Title: Real world Kekri times and wailing spirits of the dead
Post by: Sami on November 01, 2025, 03:54:00 PM
This is a season's greetings diary entry from the real world.
At this time of year, the dead are said to wander. In ancient Finnish tradition, we have Kekri, the festival of harvest and departed souls. The Celts had Samhain, later woven into the
fabric of Halloween. The harvest year wanes, the threshold of winter draws near, and the veil between this world and the otherworld grows thin. Spirits may stir, leaving faint traces of their presence. Among the departed, there are sometimes restless souls, lost and seeking their place.

In Finnish folklore, it was believed that a tree fallen against a standing tree could be trapping a restless, mournfully wailing spirit.
A walk through the nearby forest is always a delight - but in the dim, shadowed light of November, it becomes something altogether otherworldly.
