Re: Angry Water Spirits
So what I've noticed is, things that I know are definitely associated with the Forest say "You feel comfortable", where when I do just raw fish when I catch, it says "You feel at ease". I suspect that shows which spirit accepts the sacrifice.

“Comfortable” message is displayed when the sacrifice has great effect on the standing with the spirits.
“At ease” message is displayed when the receiving spirits appreciate it, but the effect is massive.
For example; sacrificing elk cut of freshly harvested animal should give “comfortable” message.
Maybe for several days. But after several days, few weeks, sacrificing those cuts will become “at ease” messages.
The sacrifice has greater effect if the status with spirits isn’t already “maxed out”

Well. That’s how I *think* it’s set.
Spirits are mysterious, and well, I for one, prefer it to stay that way.

[moved from Gameplay questions] Perfect dry boards I believe this question is only relevant if you are using the BAC mod from Brygun  (thanks to Brygun and community for all this extra functionality the game contains!!)

If I invest in the time and effort of making 'Quality' furniture will it be worth anything at the settlements scattered around?

Or is just fun eye candy?

Cheers

Re: How to get early game food supply since fishing nerf Fishing:

I've been keeping a spread sheet, and I've had luck using berries, leaves, roots, and mushrooms, in addition to the more obvious baits of meat and fish.

meat and fish make the best baits, then leaves and roots are about half as good as those, berries are a big worse than leaves and roots but still all right, and mushrooms are a lot better than nothing, but not as good as berries.

Even with nothing you will sometimes get a roach or a perch and then you should use that as a bait for another fishing round

Trapping: I like to put all kinds of traps in the same general area, with a fence, and bait them with berries, roots, and eventually meat too (spoiled raw meat works fine, cooked or dried or smoked meat doesnt work so well). Each day I reset the traps to train up my skill and eventually it pays off.

Active hunting: this gets less annoying once you have a dog to tire the prey out, before that you want to be good with a bow and arrows or very patient or stick to pine mires.

If it's the time of the year when the ice is thin, wander around along the edge of lakes looking for animals that got overconfident and fell through the ice

Re: can't boil herbs?  I think there are 3 possibilities in 'Meadsweet'
Leaves - can be boiled / used as ingredient
Flowers - can be boiled / used as ingredient
Meadsweet - can't be boiled / used as ingredient. The whole plant itself, can be planted I think.

Sorry if I'm wrong

Re: Profiting off birds  Your hide working has a good deal to do with getting quality 'skins'
For birds I usually loop snare, and kick them to death for minimal skin damage.

The small size makes them very fast to work on, thus good to try and get skill ups.

Harsh 'skins' for me used to be put in a stack to make cord from, though now with plant cord/recovery of cord from cooking etc. I'm not sure.

Re: Profiting off birds Thank you for the advice to kick the birds. I got a fin skin the first time I kicked a tufted duck to death.

Re: Profiting off birds Alternative to kicking is to use Blunt weapon on Head. (Kicking is considered blunt too)
Added benefit is skill improving for the weapon used.

Re: Profiting off birds In crafting with leather, if you choose a regular quality piece of leather to start with, you can make a regular quality item even if you then add harsh leather to meet the quantity required to craft. I don't use more harsh than regular quality leather but that may not matter. I can't say if villagers will be able to discern that harsh quality leather was used. I suspect that they'll simply reject the item in trade if they do.

I've used the same method in crafting with fur. I've not noticed any change in armor quality when patching damaged armor with lesser quality.

Re: Unworthy trade items A bag of salt is also one of the more expensive things you buy in game. It must be worth dozens of squirrel furs.

Re: Tea doesn't help thirst If you boil “roots” you get more of boiled vegetables, not a drink.
If you want she leaves or flowers you get herbal drink.

If you have already consumed bearpipe or other stimulant reasonably recently, additional doses doesn’t do anything. Try to go a day (24H+) without eating/drinking any. Let you fatigue drop below “lively”, say tired or weary. Consume the stimulant. Work for 20-30min (or wait, even sleep*) and see the fatigue go to lively. *sleeping after taking stimulant will go to Vigorous, just speeds the levels to lively and then sleep additional 1-2h for vigorous
