There are 29 skills in Unreal World. You can view the skills screen by pressing [s]. Each skill is represented by a letter of the alphabet and in addition to using them from the skills you can press hotkey Alt + the letter to quickly use a skill.

If you cancel your task before completing it (cancel fishing halfway through, decide not to make boards after all), you will not get a skillup of course.
