Uses as firewood
Branches can also be used as firewood, especially in a fireplace.
For a common fire (particularly an outdoor, open-air camp fire), branches are very helpful to prolong its longevity and intensity, compared to only using spruce twigs. Campfires using a combination of branches and spruce twigs tend to be the easiest to light and tend to yield the best results, including for cooking and roasting fires.
Other uses
A branch can be used as a splint while healing a serious wound.
