Not sure if this is a bug at all, but after searching I was under the impression, that the only predators that can open doors are bears. However, my character was killed indoors by a wolf while the door wasn't opened by myself. Here's the scenario (image without the wolves attached):

- I'm in my cavebin (cave+cabin) with door to east and window to north
- Door is closed, the cave doesn't have loose corners that can be used to get inside
- The place is surrounded by wolves. I shoot one through the window and they get aggressive
- The mill about infront of the window without being able to do anything, I'm in front of the window the whole time facing north
- Suddenly a wolf attacks me from out of sight and I immediately die

So, either
1. wolves can indeed open doors and that's that
2. something weird is going on

Ideas? :P End of msglog is as an attachment, if that can provide insight.

You're correct, wolves shouldn't be able to open doors, so there's something hazy here.
I'll try to figure out what might have happened.

Had to do a double check and go through the msglog (https://tinyurl.com/2xbmpj48). The last mention of the door was indeed me closing it after seeing a wolf through the window for the first time near my cavebin. I was standing in front of the oven most likely making a fire, and to my best recall canceled the action after seeing the wolf to go close the door. Given where I was standing no other wolf should have gotten past me unnoticed to the cave part.

Previous to this incident I had been sleeping in the bed with the door closed, woke up and kept lying down waiting for the sun to rise, then got up, opened the door but didn't go outside but instead started to make the said fire. It's not out of the realms of possibilities though that I had been sleeping with a wolf inside the cave as when I entered the settlement last the cabin door had been open and I closed it when going inside to sleep ;D The altercation with the wolves did however take quite some time before coming to an abrupt end.

For the past couple of days they had been milling about square of two away from the settlement. This had been my plan to test their reaction and the possibilities of sheltered hunting if the pack I'd followed on and off for weeks came close enough to my cabin.

Btw. I've had numerous instances of spawning inside the cave wall when arriving to this map square, but given that I was already zoomed in and quite the while passed lying awake inside, so it's probably unlikely that a wolf would've entered the cabin that way.

Wait – do wolves and other animals have restrictions on climbing high cliffs (since cave walls are made of those)?

Down the rabbit hole. I recreated this and it appears that the spawning inside the cave wall is a result of the games tendency to place the character one square southeast of the square where he left the home settlement upon re-entering. This appears to only happen on homestead squares, not villages or unbuilt caves where the player enters from the side he's looking, nor any other tile where's there's no automatic zooming in. If I left my janky cavebin northwest of a cave wall tile, this results the player being spawned of top of the cave wall upon re-entering. Solid walls and closed doors only push the character one square south upon re-entering, but apparently the cave being a high cliff it's considered a valid square to stand on.
