So, in daylight we sometimes see animals and humans in the distance, then, why not more so seeing the glow of fires in the evening/night?

Just came to think about this as I left the zoomed in view, where I had a fire lit, and came out to a dark wilderness map.

Oh yes please!

And smoke from fires too. Visual and/or notification about smoke smell similar to sounds around character portrait.

Good idea, might be able to piggy back off of the NPC/Animal implementation on overworld map with a bit of updating/modifying for the lighting, thinking about it from sami's seat if he decides this is something he'd like to do. Otherwise he'd probably have to make an entirely new system to track fires on local map tiles and render them to overworld, which would be a lot of work.

Since NPCs actually light fires now, it certainly would be good to be able to detect them from afar.
