Suggestions / Roasting turnips

Having seen the survivor feast video I had a thought...

Hmmm....

Can we roast turnips in the game? Maybe it dries them so lower weight but same nutrition while a better taste. So overall you can better push up your nutrition.

When looking for an NPC shelter can it be found on the zoomed out wilderness map or must the search be done in local view?

Gameplay questions / Sauna game commands

So as of 3.63 the have a Sauna is no longer about using a sauna scoop

Tuukka is in his smoker with a fireplace in a 1x3 interior (counting the fireplace)

The instruction said to throw a container of water

Tried a mod clay bowl of water and it ... uh.... went in the fire and .... ??? I dunno

Its a modded item so I tried a stock wooden bowl filled it with water and threw it at the fire

So the wooden bowl went into the fire and was destroyed.

Im hoping its not a sacrifice of bowls each time.

What are the key-command sequences for making steam?

Bug reports / [Not a bug] Spoiled smoke meat mid stacks

So here is Tuuka picking up finally smoked elk

And in the middle of the piles is a spoiled... then a few more


And this is the day they were ready. Showing not stale but spoiled.

I could see a slim chance that the bottom ones are from an earlier animal but I dont think thats the order that would display in and this spot is checked alot.

That mid list one though is clearly going to be from the same cook sets of 50, finally one was ~25. No smoke 1 cut was done.


Also note related to big animal dehair issue Im finding in the other bug thread. Same character and same animal

Could be that I messed up:

= a fire starting cycle but unlikely

= I changed out a door for a wall which took a while and a sleep cycle due to fatigue (forgot to log the trunks before dismantling the door)

Bug reports / Fords need block zoom in/out

Having a wierd thing

I made a shelter at a ford a little bit back from the land

When I travel there by punt I can zoom in

It puts me at the shelter which is ~ 12 tiles from the shore

There is a message that I can't zoom out

It appears we forgot to block the zoom in at fords and it needs it

So far the punt far from land has been empty. If it was a heavy load of trees it would be horrendous to drag it all to the water's edge.

Suggestions / Recipe [optional] with +/- % quality

I would be nice if in recipes for making crafts that optional items could give a chance for different quality which in turn can lead to a higher value by the fine/perfect modifiers

For example a decoration of headress with  leather on branches in the baseline, adding optional bones a +10% quality and adding optional feathers a +10% quality so together if both added a +20% quality so likely to bump it up a category

Building and initial first winter home I'm wondering if one of the walls is a fireplace will it still be considered sealed to use as a smoker?

I'm thinking of doing this:

Bug reports / De-hair rotted within 24 hours or less

In Tukka's journies I had an elk skin on de-hair scheduled for the 5th day of the last week to midsummer. In his travels, which Ive being blogging, he was at the camp and checking on the hair. I recall seeing 3 days left on it and that would put it at this time.

On the scheduled day Tuukka is at his farming camp. He arrives in daylight on that very same scheduled day.

The elk hide de-hairing is found rotted.

Thats within 24 hours on something that was something for 10 days. Probably within 12 hours.

The rate of rotting on dehairing needs to be broadened or some other bug happened.

Suggestions / Remove fistfulls from containers

In one of the bug threads it was a possible player solution to take their flowers/seeds/grains/beans out on the ground to access them properly. I also discovered that with, say broad beans, trying to bait a trap with something in a container puts the whole container in.

It would be good and a quick code to apply to the "A"pply command to "R"emove things from a container. Flowers would go back in hand, beans back in hand although liquids like water would be lost.

This would let us also carry a box of berries to put out fistfuls in traps.

Gameplay questions / Building Doors, walls vs boulders

I;m plannng Tuukka's first winter building

There is spot with a bouldder, 2 gaps, boulder. I' wondering if I can get a door in the two gap space.

such as:
b = boulder
D = Door
W = Wall

Or does the door require walls on both sides?

I am looking into buying a silver necklace. As I dont have the right goods I put it down. Yes, it is on the ground.

Going to one of my camps bringing in boards for crafting I was approached and now threatened for the silver necklace.

I'm looking at my inventory. The silver necklace is NOT on me.

Combining with the other thread the village trade is failing to detect what is being put down and transfer or not transfer of who is the owner.

While resetting traps in a trap fence my aim was off and I kicked down a fence section.

No problem thought I, just a few minute to rebuild...

... no materials were placed.

The stakes and cords ought to be left on the map, or at least the stakes.

Okay, I was suspecting this now I can confirm it.

A pot just lost its unpaid status.

Tuukka, of my story thread, has long been staying at a month. Im doing the island challenge so he has chosen to get to this second island and stay in the village for the ice-bound months.

On an earlier visit to the trade house I picked up the pot (unpaid) and found it was too much to afford.

Week or so later Tukka has made a shelves to trade. The shelves are a custom BAC mod item. Being heavy I dragged them over. I wanted to see if the shelves would cover all or most of the cost of the iron pot. Picking up the pot and talking to a villager they don't acknowledge the pot as needing payment.

In my inventory the pot says (unpaid)

Dropping the pot the pot no longer says (unpaid)

I haven't given them payment!

I was pretty sure this free-pay had happened before with a bag of barley grains.

I think the common elements of the bug are:

- extended stay of weeks in a village
- making things in the village
- dropping and picking up my own things
- picking up an unpaid item
- dropping an unpaid item
- more crafting, dropping, picking up my own things
- picking it up as (unpaid)
- it has lost the (unpaid) flag

I have been doing my regular zip file saving so can send over game files at various stages.
