I understand this is a small, perhaps trivial issue but it seems like it would be easy to fix and it could help someone new to the game better understand crafting recipes.

62
This is a small inconsistency that was causing me some confusion.  Most crafting recipes call for "tying equipment" which can be satisfied by either a rope, leather rope or a cord.  However the raft and stone axe recipes specifically call for "Rope", and I just figured out that these requirements can also be satisfied with cords.

As a fix I suggest either:

1. Change the recipe requirements to show "Tying equipment" instead of "Rope".

or

2. Modify the recipes so they only accept rope or leather rope.

My survivors will seldom eat them if I want to RP a spirit day, perhaps on the day of meeting the spirit of the forest.

I thought the effects might be useful if I was searching for items or perhaps tracks in a spruce infested area, as the effects make items (not sure about tracks) show up on adjacent tiles and might make them easier to see if they would have been hidden behind a tree.

I have never experienced any injury from eating them raw or soups made with them.

In the real world, vomiting out toxins should help to reduce their effects on the body (as with alcohol), so taking with an antiemetic such as meadsweet would increase the danger of eating these mushrooms.  According to Wiki, a fatal dose of amanita muscaria would be 15 caps.

I have not experienced this situation, where dogs or humans will jump into water without hesitation so I can't comment on it specifically.  However I have noticed that my character can chase an animal into a narrow area surrounded by water and they will never attempt to cross it, even if it's shallow and only one or two tiles wide.  This does not seem right to me especially for a large animal such as an elk, but after some thought, even a hare can swim.  Just ask my former president Mr. James Earl Carter Jr.

I would like to know about this content that there is a source that can find more knowledge?

Welcome to UnReal World forums.  There are lots of sources available that will give more information about the game.  However don't cheat yourself out of the excellent experience of learning how to survive on your own.  Going through the game course objectives are a fantastic way to get started.

You may be correct about carpentry, I was basing my statement from the wiki page, which may be outdated: http://www.unrealworld.fi/wiki/index.php?title=Staff

However fine javelins seem incredible to me:

Code: [Select]
(A80000):29hb:[!@]{04B20673}     | You encounter an animal. You think it's a Bear...
(143270):29hb:[#]{04B20673}      | Zooming in ...
(000000):29hb:[T]{04B20673}      | There is pine mire here and you encounter something.
(143270):29hb:[#]{04B20673}      | You see big female bear there.
(000000):29hb:[C]{04B20673}      | Cujo withdraws from your way.

I found this very secure house.  Is the builder still trapped inside?

Lin, I just recently figured out that you can [A]pply a bear skull to pull out the teeth, you will need a knife.  Then the bear skull can be [P]ushed into a pine tree to complete the bear skull rite.  This is a ritual that all characters start with, so it must be common knowledge and important.  The teeth seem important even though I haven't fount any discrete use for them, I can say my survivor has been wrecking face since he started carrying the teeth around with him..

I haven't found any use for antlers, their trade value is painfully low, but they do look kinda nice when placed on a fence or a wall.

Finding silver things can be somewhat elusive.  It seems to me that villages might become a bit more wealthy over time and when they restock they might have a silver trinket.  Also keep some high value furs with you at all times and keep your eyes peeled for the boys in blue, foreign traders have something silver about half the time, give or take.

I think some or all of these features are planned, check out the dev goals: http://www.unrealworld.fi/urw_development.html

I think the replenishment of animals would be a somewhat easy thing to add.  And it would make sense realistically, dogs are nearly fully grown at one year old, for example.

I think timbercraft helps your survivor make staves as well, but its very hard to make a fine staff, which can be made into a fine javelin.  I have not managed to do this yet, I've only found fine staves in villages.  I'm hoping that this will be possible once my survivor's skill gets to 85% or 90%.

For tracking I saw a great tip somewhere, the key is to use the skill on tiles where you do not see tracks but suspect they might exist.

One way to skill up weapon skills is by using a low power attack to finish off an animal.  For example using a javelin with a blunt attack to dispatch an unconscious elk.  This typically takes many hits and so seems to be a good way to gain a skill point.  Maybe holding onto a crude weapon for this purpose would let you get more swings in.

How do you find the nutrition for a given food item? I'm modding in some recipes for bread and I want to look at the standard flatbreads for reference. (I know the game can automatically create the values for modded food-items but I think the way I've structured it will make it a bit funky, if not non-existent.)

I think the nutrition for flatbread will come from the flour used to make it.  I think these values are defined in the herbs.txt file.  There's also a wiki page for flour: http://www.unrealworld.fi/wiki/index.php?title=Flour

Gameplay questions / Re: Utility knives and axes in 3.50
« on: April 09, 2018, 05:17:49 PM »
From my reading of the logs it seems that some crafting projects have different steps.  I think producing a wooden shovel and building a wooden wall both  both have 2 different "best tools".  When producing a wooden wall from logs, you need to carve out the notches where the logs will fit together (I picture Lincoln logs) as well as smoothing the overall shape of the log so it sits flush with its neighbor.  This makes sense to me, where you would want a broad axe to shave down the overall surface but a carving axe to make the notch.

The time taken depending on the tool seems to vary wildly as any poor sod making a shelter with only a stone knife will tell you.

Small knives are preferred for peeling the bark from trees, and they seem to be selected over any other available when making clothes or bandages.

I think that sometimes birds can pick the bushes, could this have happened to your bushes?  What type of berries and what time of year is it?  Have the berries ripened?
