Also, when they say the water is 25 meters to the northeast, they mean that starting from where you're currently standing, you should walk 25 steps northeast and then either your X coordinate will be right, or your Y coordinate will be right.

So they correctly get it from your perspective not from their perpsective in that situation.

32
So they don't always get it right but I guess this is how real people are, too, sometimes they think you know the things they know and make a mistake, sometimes they realise that you don't know the same things and accomodate you.

33
I think they try to do it from your perspective but they don't always succeed

Code: [Select]
+--+....
|.W|....
|..|....
+X-+....
........
.......@

For example the other day I was standing in the @ position and I asked X if he knew where W was, and he said that he was inside just around the corner, instead of saying he's right over there, you see.

34
asking for directions from the villagers also helps somewhat, but if you're too close to it, the conversation goes like this

Villager: it's right over there, you see.
Me: No, I don't see it, it's covered in ice and snow.

35
This is a good suggestion, I like it!

My current workaround is that i put some branches in a little circle around the well in every village that i go to so that i can find it again later.

I have been imagining the game pots to be ceramic all this time. Is that ahistoric?

And then if you forgot to close it while carrying it, some berries would spill out, leaving a trail behind you for bears :D

We used to have a thing like option 1, where you could drink raindrops but it was removed in February 2013 (it was a bit overpowered and drinking raindrops with your mouth won't usually quench very much thirst in real life

Quote
Options to drink raindrops or eat snow to reduce your thirst have
been removed. (In the future there will be options to melt snow and
fill a container with rainwater by leaving it outside when it's
        raining.)

So maybe someday it will come back

The ice is very thin, so I think it's okay. Perhaps it should say "You notice a lavaret swimming under the ice." And if the ice gets too thick then you shouldn't be able to notice spawning fish anymore.

Bug reports / Re: [3.82] Two problems with kg calculations and labelling
« on: November 26, 2023, 08:56:09 PM »
i think the 1 unit resolution setting is meant to be a bit fuzzy so that you can imagine you're an iron age guy alone in the woods without a real scale, just eyeballing it that "it's about a lb/kg i guess"

humans used to be weaker -- -there was no chance fighting against a lynx or a wolf, you heard a silent meow from the lynx and your only hope was to run far enough away to zoom out, my characters barely lived 10 days if i was lucky, back then.

i know you mean that you want that NPCs should be weaker than the player character. but the way i see it is all of these things that the NPCs can do are things your character can do too, if you're less encumbered.

When you say your enemy is getting up in the same turn, what's happening is they are less fatigued than you, or they're not carrying 70 kg of stuff, which lets them be lighter and move faster, so they get to go more often.

The villagers didn't want my stone tipped arrows at all, but they were happy to buy some bone arrows -- they weren't too valuable though.

It sounds like you're already looking in the best places. Treasure reward is a good option - it's rare, but you can find out the reward before doing the quest and decline the ones that aren't treasure or that you don't think are worth the time.

I'm pretty sure it does nothing at all.

It may have had a use in a much earlier version of the game.

If you climb via the skills menu with sl, or with alt-l, for example along a fence, and you leave one tile type (for example Sea) and enter another (for example your settlement), then the picture at the top will stay the old tile, and the bottom where it says "Sea at Saamakorpi" will continue to say Sea instead of saying "Your settlement". It will stay the old tile until you scroll in or out (with mouse or ctrl + and -) or until you move regularly.

The bug doesn't occur when climbing via moving forward with the up key (with auto-climb fence enabled).

This doesn't affect anything: checks about whether you can zoom out will still succeed, the game knows that you're not really on the water tile anymore.

In this image: the entire fence is actually my settlement, which was a heathland tile, not in the sea tile.
