Re: If I plan to create a new character to survive in an old world, what should I do Hey, after your question I tried copying and pasting the world files from my active character(Not dead ones because I don't think you can restore the world files from them.). I copied the WORLD.BAK , WORLD.DAT and WORLD.PLM files. Created a new character, then copied these 3 files into the (\UnRealWorld\Your newly created character name here). You also keep your starting scenario, and if you want to also copy the weather over, I think you also should copy the WEATHER.DAT file to your newly created character.

edit: I forgot to mention, your character also keeps his/her original spawning location as far as I tested so you may encounter a problem that you might spawn in deep water when you copy the world files.

Hope I could help.

Which game update you are looking forward to? The game is challenging and fun as it is right now no doubt about that. But I'd like hear your opinions on updates you are waiting for, it can be from the development list or anywhere.
I am actually hoping for a widescreen support, it should be a nice upgrade from the stretched and resized versions avaible right now.
From the development list, it is a race between animal husbandry and infections, I think infections should make the game a lot more interesting, maybe something like the need for boiling the water and similar stuff like that.

Re: [3.63] Incorrect 3D sound positioning When listening to the sounds, you should also note your character's direction. The sound may come from the east. But if you character is facing south, the sound should en up in your left speaker as your character is hearing the sound from his/her left ear.

From the news.txt in the game files.

- sounds are panned relative to your characters location/direction

The sounds your character hears during  the  game already
have loudness relative to the distance from you. Now  the
sounds are  also  panned  relative  to  your  character's
location and direction he/she is  facing.
        For example:
S = something that makes sound, @ = your character

        S..
        ...
        .@.
        ...

If your character is facing directly to north you'll hear
the  sound  slightly  from  the  left.  If your character
is facing towards the sound then  you will naturally hear
it  from  the  center.  And  if  your character is facing
to south you'll  hear the sound  slightly from the right.
"Heading" screen also  still  shows  the  sound  location
visually but now you can also find your way to the source
of the sound just by listening carefully.

Re: Who were "Njerpez" ? I can't believe that nowadays you have to prove the correctness of your fantasy world.

Re: Who were "Njerpez" ? While things you said about history are true, saying that you are not a historian just because you can code a historical game is a huge understatement to the devs imo. This game is under development for 25+ years. The devs are also very much interested in the folklore, history of the proposed timeline and place.
You can defend the world you created by just saying that "I wanted it this way.", now I am not saying this is how Erkka and Sami are thinking but the novgorod situation is just silly IMO. I don't really understand what you really want by historical accuracy. Do you want the njerpez to completely eliminate eastern tribes as the time goes on? Do you want njerpez in Seal tribe areas?
To me, it is still a high history simulation. Just because you can't find real life representation of a tribe doesn't mean that the game is fantasy and the time and location should be changed or so. Unreal World, at least right now, is more concerned with you and the nature rather than historical relations about the tribes within the game.

Re: Nefarious NPC I think they can add a great moral dilemma into the game. Maybe one village's all animals have perished, and out of desperation they decide to steal some animals. Will you help the poor villagers or you think that no matter what the circumstances are one shouldn't commit such a thing. They might add a greater immersion and personality into the villages and into your character.

But obviously these kind of quests would require a huge scenario to be built, and all the AI and everything need to be coded in also.

Re: [3.63] Ghost-Spruces in the forest Then why is it that you can put a list of people being hostile to you and I can't? Somebody tries to find a reason to your bug and you write "I don't want half-assed assumptions tossed around.". You don't need to write this way.

I don't know if this is really your intention or just the way you type, but it comes up very rude and hostile. I think you are the only person who put up a list of people being "hostile" to you in the forum. If it stinks everywhere you go, maybe check under your shoes... Just a tip.

Re: 5 reasons why Unreal World is one of the most original and rewarding games ever, Maxwell is definitely a spambot as he just copied the first reason and probably put it into translate or something and posted a link under it.
