Gameplay questions / Re: Region-level distribution of game
« on: April 24, 2018, 03:16:39 PM »
Animals are definitely more common in certain regions of the world, and the types of animals vary based on region as well.  However, there's also quite a bit of randomness involved and the concentrations you are describing are most likely a lucky fluke.

I love Mors Kochanski!  He taught the guy who taught me bushcraft.  His videos are always great.

Gameplay questions / Re: Utility knives and axes in 3.50

Does anyone know what type of knife the broad knife represents in real life?  Why is a knife with a wider blade preferable for hideworking?

Actually, I disagree slightly with Lin.  I'm not sure I want to know exactly where I stand with the spirits at all times.  I think maybe the fishing rod ritual both helps and hurts?  I always try to make sure to sacrifice a fish after using it.  I like the mystery of not knowing exactly how magic/spirits work.  Even after a character has accumulated all the furs and treasures of the world, the spirits are still a little mysterious.

I do believe that Sami mentioned that the new rain is easier on computer processing.  But, perhaps there could be an option for the "low performance" rain, and an option for "high performance" rain.

General Discussion / Re: What's Going On In Your Unreal World?

Just had an unusual event happen - was escorting a lost vagabond back to civilization, and ran into a squirrel on the overworld map and decided to take it for dinner.  I chased it up a tree and was throwing rocks, I had managed to hit it in the foreleg when all of a sudden an aggravated hawk swooped in, and knocked the squirrel out of the tree.  I threw my rock at the bird, and it fled.  I stomped on the big squirrel to put it out of its misery.  It had been gruesomely shredded by talons.  I wonder what it could portend...

Just curious if anybody had tried Buoidda's mod with 3.50 and whether or not it was working as expected?

I was wondering the same thing!  Must have been some spectacular tactics.  I find I often have a hard time even with an unencumbered character and a bow.  Would have liked to see that part of the story in more detail!

those target dummies were from an older mod that allowed you to take heads and limbs from dead Njerpez, and build them into a gruesome scarecrow to honor Kalma, goddess of bloodshed.  You could then attack the dummies to train your weapon skills, and the game would treat it like "real" combat for the purposes of skill increases.  Unfortunately I can't remember the name of the mod, i'm sure JEB Davis can point you in the right direction.

I definitely agree with #3.  Spirits seem equally angry with a starving trapper who kills a bird or two every day, as with a ruthless hunter who kills half a herd of reindeer and leaves them to rot when his cellar is already full.  just doesn't seem right

I think this would be great.  I always love the idea that there might be hidden things out in the world that I've never seen
