Solved'n'fixed bug reports / [solved] Sage unable to heal
« on: January 31, 2020, 06:38:39 AM »
I have frostbite and the flu. The village sage, who still has a 'Forest Spirit' quest that I've undertaken, says he'd like to help me heal in the 'Greet' dialog BUT the only option given me concerns the quest.

Suggestions / Crafting leather harnesses?
« on: January 02, 2020, 08:10:36 AM »
I was looking at a bunch of leather I've got for which I presently have no use and it occurred to me that these beasts of burden, cow and deer, could require harnesses and packs in order to carry loads. I suppose that would fall under hide working skill. What do you think?

Additionally, I pondered whether the value of furs should be reduced because, again, I have a lot of furs and nothing worth trading them for anymore. I know, balancing economy is, well, a bear...heh.

I know I could craft leather and fur armor and such but, frustratingly, villagers consider that such items are fairly worthless and, if I give these things to a Companion, too often they can't (apparently) wear them because of the weight. It's a bit confusing why villagers devalue crafted fur items while foreign traders will pay well for the furs.

Suggestions / Footwraps needed
« on: December 30, 2019, 09:09:05 PM »
There's a consensus that our characters are in need of something to fend off the cold when the warm, woolen, gloves/mittens/socks are not available. It was suggested that our characters should be able to fashion simple footwraps and the like from our woolen scraps.

Gameplay questions / Frostbitten toes!
« on: December 27, 2019, 07:34:26 AM »
I never had a problem with this before, perhaps because in the older version one could wear both leather boots and fur footwear, simultaneously. What's troubling me is that now that the temperature has dropped very low I'm having to stop a lot to make a fire because my FEET get cold. Ignoring it results in frostbite, so, it's serious.

I'm wearing bear fur footwear, but, I've also tried leather boots, and it's not enough. I can't find woolen socks anywhere (except on my Companion's feet, that is), so I'm wondering if there's some new method for staying warm?

Gameplay questions / Disappearing Blood trail
« on: December 24, 2019, 07:53:08 PM »
I was hunting a wild sow and got close enough to hurl a javelin. It hit and, momentarily, the sow was knocked down and unconscious. I hit it with another javelin but it still managed to run, leaving a bloody trail.

I tracked it by blood and prints to a nearby forest area. I found a blood trail just within the woods and a few tracks but, wouldn't you know, the tracks soon ran out. What surprised me was that the BLOOD TRAIL also soon disappeared, both in the forest and out on the pine mire where the chase began.

The weather was light snow. Maybe that covered the blood but I've never had this to occur before, in the instant I was tracking.

Not bugs / Impassable dogs
« on: December 01, 2019, 05:20:42 AM »
I'm finding that village dogs will hinder, or completely block movement because, unlike my own dogs, these do not move out of the way when I try to move to their space. I've been trapped in a building for a while and blocked from entering a building by these impassable animals.

Gameplay questions / Deathrattle!
« on: November 27, 2019, 08:45:59 AM »
I'm taking my guy on his first deep exploration. I load up my stag with furs, food, and extra trade goods, and begin a trek through Kuikka lands, heading for the Kaumo area.

Having arrived at the border of the two, I stop for the day, build a shelter and, since it's only afternoon, I decide to fish in the adjacent lake. The first hole I chop is too close to shore, not deep enough, so I walk out further and chop another hole. Just as I drop my line, I hear the cry of a wounded beast, then another! What the hell? A lynx has walked up and killed my stag, just feet from me! Thanks, dog, for your timely warning(not)! I don't even see the lynx, it's just gone.

I skin and butcher the stag but now I'm overburdened with all the gear it was carrying, too. So, I unload gear at the shelter, start tanning the hide and then set the meat to dry. Several days later, having had no further sign of the lynx, I finish the tanning and pack up, loading my dog with enough to make it possible for me to carry everything else, albeit with 30% burden. Obviously, my next trade will be for a beast of burden... except I can't find a village with any animals to trade.

I wander through Kaumo land a bit, finding 3 villages but no animals, and head back, one week later, to the Kuikka area I just passed because, surely, there must be a village there, right? When I get back to the shelter-of-dead-stags, I'm cutting twigs for a fire when I'm told I hear a DEATHRATTLE to the southeast! Again, what the hell? In the morning light, I searched quite a bit, seeing lots of lynx tracks and a number of tree trunks in one area, but no corpse of any kind. I wonder if that stealthy lynx found a woodsman or a hunter?

Does anything besides a human utter a deathrattle? I'm almost dying to know...heh. I'm setting a large deadfall trap here. Don't even care if I come back to a rotted lynx carcass, just so long as it clears this murdering creature from the area.

Suggestions / Arrowheads
« on: November 19, 2019, 06:11:38 AM »
Instead of just gathering common rocks in order to form arrows, why not craft arrowheads from stone/rock. It would be interesting to do flintnapping, or to carve arrowheads from bone and antlers.

Iron arrowheads could be a trade item, too, instead of completed Superior arrows. It would feel great to trade for some Superior iron arrowheads and form my own arrows. I think it would express the difference between crude, decent, fine, and Superior quality if the arrowheads were identified as crude bone, decent antler, fine flint, and superior iron.

Also, I think that searching for flint would add some quality to the standard mountain/cliff terrain.

Gameplay questions / Bear Hibernation starts when?
« on: October 22, 2019, 11:02:54 AM »
I'm in Sartola lands, there's light snow on the ground and it's day 4 of the 8th week before midwinter. I'm seeing bears wandering and am wondering if they should not already be in hibernation? I've trapped one and his fur is rated as a winter coat.

(It's now 6 weeks before midwinter and still seeing/trapping bears)

(Perhaps this post is not relevant. Research reveals "However, far from being a long, uninterrupted sleep, hibernation consists of periods of sleep punctuated by periods of arousal. Sleep time is long during the dead of winter but is shorter at the beginning and end of the season.")

General Discussion / Just wanna be loved...
« on: October 17, 2019, 07:37:11 PM »
There's a village that's a quick walk away from the little lake where I built my cabin. I always keep good relations with villages, never murder Companions, rob their fields. Yet, for some reason, this village considers me a 'nuisance'. The only thing I can think of that might have affected their opinion is the time I entered the village and shortly thereafter a Njerp and his dog attacked the villagers. (He's the reason I went in- to see if he'd attack there)

So, I looted the Njerp, against whom I did nothing in the fighting, and I skinned/butchered his dog. (I'm assuming it was the Njerp's dog because the villagers were fighting it, not one of their own that got hit by them and turned on them) All the fighting and my looting were actually outside the village commons, a few steps into the surrounding woods.

So, I guess my question is, is there some taboo I might have committed that I don't know about? And, Will I be able to change their nasty attitudes with gifts?

Not bugs / [not a bug] Cellar in building- problem smoking/drying
« on: October 11, 2019, 08:58:40 PM »
I build cellars inside my cabin. Since the latest update, when I try to dry or smoke meat while standing ON/IN the cellar, I get the message that says I don't have the required conditions to do this. However, if I move off the cellar I can successfully smoke/dry the meat. It's a minor thing, yes, but it's something that has changed. Not sure if it was intended.

I'm finding a lot of villagers that tell me their village 'has enough' pawboards, even though I've never before traded them there. In fact, I've only been able to trade away ONE pawboard, in exchange for a loop snare.

I'm just wondering if they are worth making anymore since the villages don't seem to want them and I have no use for 20 such?

Not bugs / [not a bug] Njerp's dog skinned
« on: October 10, 2019, 09:31:23 AM »
After a Njerp fight I had my Companion skin and butcher the Njerp's dead dog. Usually, the pelt has a quality designation (decent, harsh, etc) but this pelt just said "Dog-skin". After I tanned it, the fur was described as 'Decent' but it's still just a "Dog Fur".  I mention this because I'd earlier skinned a Njerp dog with my character and the skin had a proper quality designation. It may be that the Companion's effort causes this difference.

General Discussion / That's never happened to me before!
« on: October 10, 2019, 09:17:08 AM »
I have a trap/fence built near a very small lake. It has 6 or 7 pit traps in it. Last night I went to check it and, Lo!, I see a reindeer between the trapline and the lakeshore. I'm hoping that I can stampede it through a trap. It runs faster than I can track it, but, I find another deer, struggling in a pit. When I got closer, Wow!, the next trap down ALSO has a reindeer in it. I check the last two traps and the last one has a dead reindeer next to it AND a wolf trapped within the pit!

I'd love to know the story behind this event! After all the skinning, butchering (had to go back the next day for the last deer), tanning, and smoking, I took too long getting to the wolf pelt and it wound up harsh, but the three deer came out as decent pelts.

Gameplay questions / Now that bears hibernate...
« on: September 19, 2019, 01:09:33 AM »
Are bear winter fur pelts only to be found by searching out the hibernating bears in caves during winter now? Or, are they considered 'winter fur' in late fall and early spring, too?
