Haven't noticed any problems so far. The basic M&B runs on Steam Play, which means it's a Windows binary, running on top of Steam's Proton emulation layer (sort of Valve's own WINE fork, I think) - M&B is one of the games it has been tested for, so it was just a matter of clicking Install in Steam to get it working just fine. I haven't installed Warband yet - that's a native SteamOS/Linux port, but I don't really expect much problems there either - it's an older, fairly high-profile game, so I'd expect I'd heard plenty of complaints by now if did't work.

Ah, I assumed you meant Warband. I haven't bought basic M&B yet (kind of curios now..).
Warband did have a very annoying memory leak that obliged me to switch to Windows to play it. Happened only with heavy mods though, especially Viking Conquest.

I have to admit it - initially, years ago, I was on your same boat. Instead of manually compiling the list, though, I looked for one (there's plenty available, search on this and the old forums, ask on reddit or discord), then I learned how to extract the values from the game objects and produce my own spreadsheets.

After playing a bit longer, though, I warmed up to the barter system. For me now it's annoying that stuff has the same value anywhere. I was extremely happy when Sami patched the board selling "cheat" recently.

What I really want is dynamic prices depending on village needs. It doesn't have to be by individual, but surely it must be by village (we can assume that they share enough so that they have the same surplus, and the same needs).
So it would make sense to go around from one region to the other, becoming a travelling merchant for example.
Or even just a trapper that hunts somewhere in the summer, somewhere else in the winter, and sells the right furs where most appropriate.

This would make knowing the base prices pretty useless, which helps immersion in how the game is "supposed" to be played.

I've played this game for a few months (again after so many years) - I just recently installed Steam on Linux to buy the Mount & Blade bundle, and while I was at it, I bought this game, too. Listening to the newly-released album by Heilung and playing Unreal World just feels... natural.

Unrelated, but.. how's M&B working for you on Linux? A memory leak plagued me and others for years, and had to start playing it on Windows, sadly.

@Sami could leather boots be made craftable? This would pair perfectly with the wearing-out.

Also probably leather should last more than fur, I wager. And quality should factor in, shouldn't it?

You don't need to push them, you can drag them. Type m when you are on top of one log - you will be able to move around as if you had picked it up.

Another tip: get a bull if you can. Then you can push one log onto the bull and drag the other one.

Lovely suggestions, some of those are probably in the TODO list. I also proposed a "wetness" modifier a long time ago :P it does break my immersion having all clothes perfectly waterproof :P

Still, the most dangerous guy I fought quite recently was a Njerp, even though it was just after killing four bandits, who didn't impress me so much. The Njerp was apparently a sword master, armed only with a single sword, and no armour except some rags (like a barbarian). He killed one of my dogs in his first move, and then was striking, blocking and countering so skilfully he damaged both my northspear and his bastard sword, and it left me exhausted. I didn't even know that my weapon can be damaged without blocking (I always dodge instead).

Really cool!

I couldn’t get this to work anymore. The villagers say “no thanks, we don’t need any boards”. Help please! I’ve always found it very hard to get barter items early game. What else could I make? Is the board method dead?

I was indeed fixed, finally :)

What about carving those boards in fox traps? A bit more energy expenditure, but the same value as the boards.
